I have seen Dost a few times on Portuguese TV and although he scores a lot of goals in the league there, the PL would be way above his station.

Dost had a decent enough scoring record in Germany but didn't look a particularly skilful or intelligent player. You couldn't rely on him to carry an attack at PL level.

Its a really difficult slot to fill, the subtle art of the modern centre forward and in many ways is key to Wolves next season.

The recruitment team really have to study the players and the qualities required. Easy to get it wrong.

Rumours today that Huddersfield are after Ivan Cavaleiro as he’s not part of Wolves’ plans. I’d be extremely surprised if that was the case!

I doubt Jorge Mendes would move Cav to a club such as Huddersfield and I doubt they would meet Wolves asking price should he be moved on.

Seems a strange rumour.

Yes, a strange rumour, definitely keep Cav in our squad for me.

I think Jeff needs to keep careful tabs on Uncle Gorge's player merry-go-round, as we need to build on what we have to progress further, not start moving players we need, to other clubs. It will be interesting to see what the club hierarchy think...

I think many of those decisions are above Jeff and maybe above Nuno.

So who is Mendes 'dealing' with at Wolves?

The main man, I think he sits at the top table and Wolves strategy is dictated by Mendes and Mr Guo Guangchang.

The others trust their judgment.

There has been no reason to question Fosuns running of the club or our relationship to Mendes so far, things have been going well on and off the pitch and we made a real statement of intent with yesterdays signing. You know me, I'd be giving em both barrels if I thought we were being run badly but so far things are pretty good so I'm keeping my powder dry.

I think there should be a chant for Mendes when the season starts, sing it loud and proud.
Now that would REALLY piss the establishment and old guard off......:)

Wolves have to evaluate if young Monaco winger Jordi Mboula would be given sufficient playing time should they make him a loan signing.

Several clubs interested.

Sometimes the rumours on a particular day are those you hope have no substance.

Yesterday was such a day, linked to a moody misfit at Porto and a Croatian hoof ball merchant with a pony tail.

No thanks, dodge those bullets. Move on.

I find reports that we are only willing to take Vinaigre on another loan deal surprising.

We have had 12 months to look at him and see if he has the potential to make it. Personally, I like what I see, and would think the coaching staff would be confident in their ability to turn him into an effective Prem player. And if not, why loan him again? Surely he can't be costing too much, and would not be much of a risk?

Really don't understand this one.

(Similarly don't understand our reluctance to sign Big Alf either. Looked very comfortable win World Cup and did an excellent job. Surely worthy of a squad place at least? And what is going on re Leo?? Still think he looks a good bet for Prem rather than some touted.)

Confused, but in Nuno we trust!

I would suggest the answers to all of your confusion lie with who our real targets are. If we are now able to attract the next level of player, maybe we are focussing our efforts there rather than with the players you mentioned?

Its a bit more complicated than at first glance.
I wouldn't wish to take a young left back if it meant we lost Jota to Monaco a season or two down the line.

Looks like we've dodged a bullet with Wiltshire. A turkey to Turkey.

Couple of lovely players moving this week, Bobby Reid to Cardiff from Bristol City and Lewis Baker Chelsea to Leeds.

In previous times you would want such players at Wolves, but now we accept we live in a wider fishing pool.

Personally would be happy with both as squad players. Like the look of Vinaigre and surely not a financial risk, with excellent sell-on potential. Nuno's team to educate and improve him where needed.

Always liked Bonatini, despite decline in scoring. Has more footballing intelligence in little finger than many (no names...!). Just needs to regain confidence in last 20 metres.

Suspect Bonatini might be similar to the Afobe 'arrangement'. We've probably got him for a pre agreed fee and have a buyer who'll pay us more.

If not, I'm happy either way, think he's a good player like Silver says he's got a brain and still contributes even when the goals have dried up.

Vinagre is a no brainer. Rough diamond with huge potential. Good investment which ever way you look at it.

Must confess I had hoped for someone a bit better than Leo to turn up, especially after flogging Afobe, and taking a good time over any decision on Leo - hoping they have a better offer and want to sell him on as can't see him having improved over the past 3 months and is ready to take the Prem by storm.

There is no doubt we need a proven marquee goalscorer, unless Thelwell has something up his sleeve

Nuno believes in the team concept where everyone is a striker, defender, just about it all except the goalie. It's not what we're used to, but it's worked so far !!!!

The only thing that Thelwell has up his sleeve is a cuff link... 8)
