Stoke City keen on Republic of Ireland boss Mick McCarthy.

No bigger fan of Mick than me, but the time is wrong.
Two big games coming up that will define his legacy
He will finish his time with Ireland, in 2020, and be in decent position to get another job

A club in serious decline, avoid.

Mick had enough hassle at Ipswich so I guess he'll stay put. He's earned enough to enjoy a good life and he really doesn't seem the me to be the kind of guy to chase the money for unwarranted punishment.

Ipswich topping league one comfortably. Funny one Lambert, half his track record makes him look a managerial genius, the other half a disaster. I guess circumstances have a bigger impact than we think, well look at Nathan Jones, and even Fergie took a while to get going at Man U.

Mick would comment that the key to success was Wonga.

The Stoke owner has plenty of spare Wonga.

If Mick had certain guarantees he might fancy it.
