Sunday and a local derby in what should prove to be a very open contest, Smith doesn't know how to defend.

Wolves seem to be getting better, its just a question of recovery time.

Both teams look vulnerable, so lets see high drama, a couple of sending offs, that thing VAR doing our nuts and a goalfest.

Forecast 4-3 to the good guys.

Villa will throw themselves fully at us early on to get a goal and quieten the crowd. We'll have to weather their storm and dig in and pick them off on counter attacks later on. Hard to predict the result as we do not know how we will line up yet and how much last night took out of the players who started. Dodgy game to be too over confident about, derby games are volatile and unpredictable at times. If we can score early on and keep them under pressure, it could finally be the game when our opponents get twatted but I am not overly confident as yet, but fingers crossed for a home win.

Midfield battle is massive today. In McGinn and Greasy they've two players who are talented in bringing the ball forward and finding space in the final third. Neves and Moutinho will have to be on their game today or we will struggle.

This is the day Wolves rise to the top and show our lofty neighbours who is the best team in the Midlands, apart from Leicester!!

Greasy out for the game. Hasn't sobered up in time.

Wolves lucky not to give away a penalty.
Doc for everything he gives you going forward, got wrong side of his man.

Saiss needs to be careful

We could take this game away from them, they have very little threat

Good half on the front foot, but probably too little made from it. A great wondergoal but in general play we really mess up the final pass/shot far too often.

We need to carry on with the forward momentum. Villa have nothing to lose now, and our back 3 left Wesley alone once in the 1st half, luckily the header didn't connect well enough.

I hope Jota keeps his head too. Jonny hasn`t had much against Gilbert. Vinaigre might give him a bit more of a challenge, especially as we haven`t had much to do in defence.

Yep, there for the taking but again not decisive enough in the final third. Saiss needs to be careful.

Jota back safe in the hutch.

Allowing a poor Villa side back in the game

Odd game that, thought Villa would get an undeserved point there. Why didn't Neto square that?

Just can't do it easy in the league, can we. So much flapping around with the final pass, crowned by a load of rubbish by Neto.

Villa deserved nothing but we almost contrived to give them a point.

A much needed 3 points for the table though, and two weeks break after a busy month. A great week of results, all in all.

Should have killed `em in the first half.

jota and Jiminez not gelling this season for some reason.

Traore had a good game (throwing that in as I was his biggest critic last season)

Donk looks much more comfortable in the centre back role.

Our little Napoleon (Moutinho) my MOM.

Great result going into the break.

Was very noticeable that at the end of his run for the second Traore stopped took a moment to look up and see his options and then played a good pass to Jiminez. That is the bit that was missing They are looking a good combination this season probably our most productive.

I thought that we made very heavy work of seeing off a poor team on the day - albeit weakened by injuries to Heaton and Grealish. How players with the quality of Lansbury and Hourihane cannot get starts is strange to an outsider. We really have to sharpen up on our chance taking, against a better side we would have only got a draw today, that ruthlessness and clinicality is missing. Maybe it is the burden of a lot of Thursday / Sunday games that is taking its toll. Dominated without putting them to the sword. Must do better. 6/10.

I was also surprised Hourihane didn't feature, the lad from Zimbabwe(?) they had in midfield was worse than useless. Targett was also hopeless, I was disappointed when he had to go off.

I thought Moutinho and Neves played very effectively today, albeit against a pretty poor opposition midfield.

It was very frustrating at times. For an hour or so we pretty much played them off the park but couldn't get that final ball right. In the end I only really remember their goalkeeper making one decent save (from Jota).

Looking at the positives though Neves looks so much more effective now he is playing further forward again, Traore and Doherty have worked out how to play together and they frighten defenders - it also leaves room for the Jonny/Jota partnership when defenders move across to cover. We won, we moved up 7 or 8 places in the league and we have a fortnight to bask in it now and to gloat to any Villa fans we meet (There are lots around here where I live).

Nice to see Traore get a call up for Spain as well.

First half Wolves were much the better side as Villa without key players lacked any kind of belief.

Second half Villa stepped up the field and competed for the space from which to play.

They started retaining possession which resulted in Wolves who cant retain possession backing off into their own half.

Two very limited sides, with limited growth due to the patterns they fall back on.

Its a shame that Wolves have fell away from what they were building from Rolls Royce construction we now see a Go Cart assembly.

Marvelous didn't live up to his name. Perhaps their oddest decision was not to put a player anywhere near Doherty.

We did run out of gas, but we also lack cohesion in the final third.

I was on the edge of my seat with anticipation and trepidation in equal measure despite Villa looking poor. It is, after all, the poor sides who extract the worst out of us.

Pity we didn't finish with a clean sheet but 2 cm over the line makes it a goal.

There are some thugs in their team besides Minging Minger. Luiz tried to give Traore a forearm smash as he skipped around him before he crossed to Jimenez for the goal.
