You wouldn't have believed it would you just a few years back that come Thursday Wolves will be hosting a Spanish side in the later stages of a Euro competition.

From this stage on each goal, each chance taken seems to have greater meaning.

Forecast.

Wolves 1 Espanyol 0.

This is a big night, almost unbelievable.
So let's take our chance and chances, and go further

I am keeping fingers crossed that we find a way to score! We are not being clinical - and that is needed to take us to next level. But the 'chances' we create are - to be fair to strikers - only 'half-chances' at best.

It will be the usual hard game in Europe at this stage and despite Espanyol being bottom of La Liga, they drew 2-2 away at Sevilla on Sunday and were the better team for much of the game. They are dangerous and should not be underestimated at all. I think we will draw here and win away, where our counter attacking football will pay off.

It's very hard to offer any predictions on this one as I doubt anyone watches Espanyol regularly and there is some talk around that they will prioritise their league survival and not go full strength in the tie.

News that Espanyol have left top striker and playmaker at home. Signal they are taking survival in their league (where they are bottom) more important than this tournament? Hopefully we can take advantage! Pick a strong side, Nuno, and go for a 3-0 win and a surge of confidence!

We rarely hammer teams but it would be nice to put this to bed in the first leg.

As said above, this is a completely different side to when the draw was made..now they have a chance of staying up under their third coach, I don't expect their strongest side.

Possibly the biggest single match, at Molineux, since the league cup semi final game against Swindon in February '80.

The middle 3 at the back were, solid, with Boly the pick of the them
Jota, was hot, but the second goal from Neves was hotta..a special goal form a special player.

Europa League, goal of the season..and remember,

A very pleasing outcome.

As rumoured Espanyol had left their better players at home, giving us the chance to play against a side unfamiliar with one another. Despite this, I thought Espanyol were quite good on the ball throughout the first half and were clearly the better side until Neves' worldie. The ball managed to come into our box half too often for my liking and Patricio almost made comedy highlight reels around the world.

With a 2 goal cushion for the first time since our last Europa League game against a reserve side we then looked really goal hungry and potent. We could have scored at least one more with a little more care, but a 4 goal lead should mean the tie is dead now.

A dry first half that we nevertheless controlled but goals change games and we got the reward we should have got against Leicester. Great strike by Neves and the change in formation also worked a treat. Jota finally got the bit of luck he needed, third was him at his best.

Fabulous evening. I thought Saiss was magnificent too.

Jota got what he needed - a bit of luck. Neves wonderful throughout - topped off with ...

Just a lovely drive home. Still got the smile on my face!

Thanks lads - you made an old man very happy!

Despite the margin of victory, the scoreline flattered us a little as they had three or four decent chances and a more clinical team than Espanyol on the night may well have punished us defensively. That Chinese / Asian player Wei Lu or whoever looked very dangerous and two headers of his almost squeezed in. Overall we looked very dangerous after Neves's wonder strike and with Traore subbed, we looked more potent again. Neto also deserved a goal for his great shot that hit the woodwork and for once we hammered a team by four goals, if only we could repeat this in the Premier League now and then..!! A great night to be a Wolves fan for sure.

Oh - and by the way - I hereby forgive Jota for ruining my prediction of a 3-0 victory on the prediction league! I shouldn't be such a pessimist!

(And yes - the guy up front for them looked useful! We didn't deal with him especially well - but he IS very good!)

I agree their number 7 Wu Lei was their best player.

And Saiss was great, very strong in the tackle, and an unsung hero
