Does anyone know which game was being played in that South Bank picture?

I reckon it could be the Aldershot play off game? I think we lost 0-2.

It's a really sad photo is that.

I remember looking at the South Bank as an example of grandeur...until the weeds grew waist high and I didn't go to the Mol for quite a few years after that.

It's like looking at old steam engines in the breaker's yard - remembered fondly with respect but accepting the reality that their time had come and their shite condition meant it was necessary to put them out of their misery.

I can't read the signature of the No 4 which doesn't look like Ron Flowers (his hair's too tidy). Who is it?

Come on mate, help me out with the sort of Ron Flowers looking No 4; it surely isn't Ron, is it? Very few played under that number besides him and Mike Bailey in the mid 60s.

Or Wilson.

Yep, the No 4 just has to be Flowers (with unusually very tidy hair) but the sig doesn't look like it at all. :smt017

Who is the player wide right behind Waggy?

If it's 65-66 then the only two games it's likely to be are Ipswich (11th December) or Cardiff (19th February).

Who's that in the background between Hugh McIlmoyle and Ron Flowers? Is it Holsgrove or Hawkins?
Hawkins played v Ipswich and if it's him that'll give you the line-up for the day of the above pic. If it's Holsgrove then it'll be the Cardiff game.

Ipswich will give you these to choose from: Wilson, Thomson, Woodruff, Wharton and Hunt.
Cardiff: swap Woodruff for Woodfield and the rest are the same.

Take your pick.

Knowles, Waggy, McIlmoyle, Flowers and Miller never played together (at least at home) mate on a pitch like that. They did play together up to the end of September 65-66 but it seems to have been a winter fixture.

Is it definitely Molineux?

The old Baseball Ground perhaps? That was always a horrible pitch whenever I saw it on TV anyway.

That could well be the one.

So is it Ernie Hunt at the back?

Baseball Ground.
Try 'playing between the lines' and other such modernism's on that pitch

Bobby Thompson (head down), McIlmoyle, Wharton, Flowers, Knowles, Wagstaffe and Hunt.

Robbie Dennison, Floyd Streete? Andy Mutch? & Ally Robertson training in the club car park.

Times were hard in the 80's.

Today's players have it so easy.

Street and Robertson would enhance our back four even today at their ages... 8)
