I tend to agree with what Hugh has put. Missing are notably Zyro and Ennis, who may figure well next season hopefully if fully fit. I would make Williamson captain and sell Batth. Price, Saville, Gladon and Edwards I would release too. Keep Cav if Costa also stays. Mason might make a decent number ten if he stays fit. Jordan Graham will be our main man if Costa leaves. Ronan too will hopefully figure a lot. I would expect more from Saiss next year too.

The only one I'd keep (apart from the yoof) is the one who will definitely be out the door, Costa

All above keep. I reckon they can handle the division with high effectiveness if they have a pre-season and stay fit.

Enobakhare
Gibbs-White
Hause
Wilson
All show real promise.

The rest can all go. They are either past it, too inconsistent, have too many fitness issues, or simply not good enough.

Keep:
Costa - obvious
Cavaleiro - but after yesterday...???
Ikeme - need ONE keeper!
Dicko - looking nearly back to best
Enobakhare - one more season at least
Ennis - hope injury hasn't affected
Gibbs-White - needs at least another year
Graham - hope he's back to best
Hause - still think he has potential with right one alongside
Johnson - young enough to keep
Marshall - talent, but needs consistency
Mason - talent, but time running out fast
Ronan - looks the real deal
Saiss - still think with the right partnership....
Wallace - just survives my cull
Wilson - another season
Weimann - tireless
Zyro - will he come good? Quick decision will be needed

Possibly:
Bodvarsson - keep until Zyro position clear
Deslandes - quick. I like, but do others?
Coady - squad utility
Burgoyne - might be good enough
Iorfa - probably should go. Needs a proper coach & better attitude, or must go.
Oniangue - still would like to see more
Ruddy - ??
Saville - squad utility

Go:
Bath - not good enough
Doherty - past his best. Will only get worse.
Edwards - great servant, but time to go...
Evans - plenty of chances, but just not good enough to dominate games
Flatt - too late
Gladon - the unanimous choice!
Henry - gone
John - who?
Lonergan - waste of a slot when a youngster could be blooded
Price - no longer a 'promising youth'. Time for fresh fields.
Silvio - just not fit enough
Stearman - great servant, but not the future
Texeira - shame he never adapted
Williamson - not reliable, and not THAT good when fit.

Danny Batth (D) - no, lower league player, period
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson (F) - yes, if they play him up top with a striker, and teach him to head a ball
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (D) - no
Harry Burgoyne (G) - yes, decent prospect, and backup keeper
Ivan Cavaleiro (M) - yes, if we have another wide player, on the other side
Conor Coady (M) - yes, squad player
Helder Costa (M) - yes, for what it's worth
Sylvain Deslandes (D) - have I see him play? no
Nouha Dicko (F) - no, will never be sharp enough, after his injury
Matt Doherty (D) - no, he's weird
David Edwards (M) - no, he's had 10 years at Molineux, and offers nothing, apart from the odd goal
Bright Enobakhare (F) - yes, if he can improve
Lee Evans (M) - no, thinks he's good, but he aint, and gives the ball away for fun
Jonathan Flatt (G) - no
Morgan Gibbs-White (F) - yes, promising prospect
Paul Gladon (F) - no, obviously
Jordan Graham (M) - yes, if he can get back to full fitness, but has a 'Dicko' question mark
Kortney Hause (D) - yes, will improve alongside an experienced centre half
James Henry - no, not good enough
Carl Ikeme (G) yes, but needs competition
Dominic Iorfa (D) - no, seems to have lost his way
Ola John (M) - no, never plays
Connor Johnson (D) - who? no
Andy Lonergan (G) - no, obviously
Ben Marshall (M) - yes, looks to build play, and be proactive
Joe Mason (F) - yes, squad player
Prince Oniangue (M) - no, need better in midfield
Jack Price (M) - no, too lightweight, and creates very little as a midfielder
Connor Ronan (M) - yes, looks a great prospect, dynamic midfielder
Jack Ruddy (G) - no, need an experienced keepr to push Ikeme
Romain Saiss (M) - yes, calm on the ball, and would benefit from playing with a ball winner, in midfield
George Saville (M) - no, he offers nothing
Silvio (D) - no, too lightweight
Richard Stearman (D) - no, his day has long gone, need more than just passion
Joao Teixeira (M) - no, too lightweight
Jed Wallace (M) - no, he offers nothing
Andreas Weimann (F) - yes, squad player
Mike Williamson (D) - yes, but only on a pay-as-you-play deal
Donovan Wilson (F) - yes, only because warn says he's good

So, all in all, we need a massive clear-out, which won't happen, sadly.

We look to be in much agreement across the forum. Will PL agree?

I like the look of the lad Christian Herc too. Leslandes I really liked when I saw in a friendly, but virtually no chances in a 'problem' position. If he has gone backwards (as with many of our youngsters), then time to go, but it would be a shame. Will do well somewhere!

Amazes that all the fans are pretty much in agreement bar one or two players that we want to see play and stay at the club, yet year after year we get the same dross rolled out with their long contracts on the pitch and the usual nonsense sound bites in the press. I have less and less faith PL and the coaching staff or recruitment have any idea what there doing.

Until you see the full list you dont really imagine the scale of the job ahead because the club has been rewarding past failures for many a year.

We all want fresh signings, fans at all clubs want that but look at the numbers of players earning a wage at our place for doing very little.

Massive strain on the wage bill to give losers further opportunities.

We could be rid of 15 or more players this summer and still be in need of shedding some more.

Its like people who have cupboards, rooms and garages full of rubbish because it just might be needed one day, Silly thinking that just clogs up the system.

In truth Thelwell and Lambert should be on a mission to unload maybe TWENTY this summer and not relax until they reach that out box target.

Then they can get to grips with a healthier more streamlined squad that can be coached individually, in small groups and as full units.

As it is, its a mess and Kevin Thelwell has to take that responsibility. Grow some balls Kevin, call a few in and sell them on.

I got to 19 leaving Knocker !!!

The club needs to be ruthless - I hope they will be but I doubt it

We will know in about a weeks time when retained lists go out and the club announces who is being released and maybe more importantly who is available for sale

KJ's obsession with continually buying DMs who were no improvement on Price really messed with squad balance.

I expect around ten or more out with about 5-6 in.

21 for me, so job done.

Knocker is spot on, in his last post, and Kevin Thelwell is culpable, for the pile of crap he's help assemble. The more you look at that list, the more you realise what mess our club is in. No where to hide for Comfy Kev.

Those out of contract/loans over: Henry, Williamson, Price, Silvio, Weimann, Stearman, and Saville

I'm letting all of them go. Weimann is the only I'd consider keeping. He is solid in a central role. But I don't see how we can fit him in that role considering the makeup of the rest of our squad. I'd rather put the 2 million needed for him elsewhere.

23 man squad required - i guess that's not including the academy products.
Based on that, realistically i'd like to see something like -:

Ikeme - GK
NEW - GK
Marshall- RB
Coady - RB
Williamson - CB
Hause - CB
Iorfa - CB
NEW - CB
NEW- LB
Doc - LB
Saiss - CM
NEW - CM
Prince - CM
NEW - CM
Costa - LW
Zyro - LW
Graham - RW
Ronan - RW
Cavaleiro - 10.
Mason - 10.
Dicko - ST
Weimann - ST

2 players for each position. 5 new signings. The likes of wilson, gibbs-white, id keep but mainly to cover injuries.

When you look at the squad, we have better players than our league position suggests. Makes you think more about our coaching staff's ability.

Danny Batth (D) - YES, good back-up, highly committed
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson (F) - Neutral, depends who comes in
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (D) - NO; no commitment to the cause, didn't seem to know the position anyway, is gone already
Harry Burgoyne (G) - loan out and see if he has a career in pro football
Ivan Cavaleiro (M) - YES, has more than enough talent to succeed at Champ level (expect him to go though)
Conor Coady (M) - NO, poor midfielder, too slow for full back, good attitude though, wouldn't disrupt the camp if kept as a reserve
Helder Costa (M) - YES, obviously, will probably leave though
Sylvain Deslandes (D) - NO, obviously never going to make it here, let him get on with his career
Nouha Dicko (F) - YES, one last season, but only coming off the bench
Matt Doherty (D) - Neutral, ambles around too much, reasonable when going forward though
David Edwards (M) - YES, great option off the bench, should not be starting though
Bright Enobakhare (F) - Neutral, expect him to end up in the lower leagues but deserves a bit more time as a reserve option or a loan at Smallsall
Lee Evans (M) - NO, not Champ level
Jonathan Flatt (G) - NO, doesn't seem to ever get a look in and Ruddy is supposedly the best youngster
Morgan Gibbs-White (F) - YES, needs more time here
Paul Gladon (F) - NO, should never ever have been signed
Jordan Graham (M) - YES, obviously
Kortney Hause (D) - YES, has shown some progress but desperately needs to be beside quality defenders to learn
James Henry - NO, is finished here
Carl Ikeme (G) - YES, as an able 2nd choice
Dominic Iorfa (D) - Neutral, no idea what these supposed "mental issues" are to make a judgment
Ola John (M) - is already gone
Connor Johnson (D) - never seen him
Andy Lonergan (G) - NO, truly appalling
Ben Marshall (M) - YES, didn't really rate him at signing but he has shown he is at least an improvement on many other on our books
Joe Mason (F) - Neutral, clever player but mediocre finisher with injury concerns
Prince Oniangue (M) - Neutral, expect him to leave but didn't get a fair crack of the whip - likely mediocre but did score a few compared to our other mediocrities
Jack Price (M) - Neutral, squad player, seems committed, too limited to thrive at this level though
Connor Ronan (M) - YES, in glimpses looked out best academy prospect since Mark Davies
Jack Ruddy (G) - YES; supposedly highly rated though I have never sign him play
Romain Saiss (M) - YES, deserves more time and hopefully better players around him
George Saville (M) - NO, didn't rate him from Day 1, classic English academy boy
Silvio (D) - Neutral, thought he was only given a contract as a Mendes favour, injured the whole time, if fit, could be good enough though
Richard Stearman (D) - NO, was a backward step (and sign of desperation) bringing him back
Joao Teixeira (M) - NO, not cut out for the Championship bustle/kick and rush
Jed Wallace (M) - NO, never seen him manage to control a football while wearing a Wolves shirt
Andreas Weimann (F) - YES, decent Champ player
Mike Williamson (D) - YES, if fit, the only organiser we have
Donovan Wilson (F) - YES, scoring frequently for the reserves, maybe loan out to build his experience

Some sensible comments there Salopian.

Interesting mix of the 'tried often and found lacking':
Coady, Stearman, Edwards, Bodwarsson

and the 'hardly played so not proved themselves useless ... yet'
Burgoyne, Silvio, Oniangue, Ronan, Gibbs-White, Graham, Zyro, Enobakhare.

That would be one helluva statement of intenet, but would basically mean that Thelwell would become redundant, and he won't allow that to happen. I guess it depends on whether or not, Jeff has finally smelt the coffee...

I always think the better managers have the mindset, the imagination, the vision to build a team with their own core beliefs.

You might get six players presented to you with the same basic skill sets, all capable players in their own right.
But if you have a clarity of mind of what fits your very defined purpose you choose maybe one while instantly discarding the rest.
This hopefully is a wonderful opportunity for the head coach/manager to bring forward his own clear vision and defined interpretation.

Well thats what I would want, A blank canvas, then let me succeed or fail on my own terms.

So, KK, it appears your squad will be:
Bodvarsson
Doherty
Dicko
Ennis
Gibbs-White
Graham
Iorfa
Johnson
Marshall
Price
Ronan
Ruddy
Wilson
Zyro
plus presumably a few more youngsters like Herc?
Not sure that some of the ones you keep are any better than some of the ones you jettison...! And you seem to be assuming that injured guys like Graham, Ennis, Zyro will come back at peak of performance. Dicko has shown it ain't an easy assumption....!

Problem as I see it is this - Costa excepted only 4 or 5 of the above-mentioned are even a half-attractive proposition for purchase. Who in the right mind would want any of the others? Mission impossible to unload them all. Thelwell to the rescue?

Jesus  , can you name me one team in footballing history that have ever sacked, because thats what is advocated here, 26 players at one go? Notwithstanding administration or plane crashes that is.

We would start the season playing with the cleaning staff FFS. Mick McCarthy was right about the internet, as he was with most things
