I remember a few years ago when the mighty mods on here once banned me... what a state this forum has become now. Arguably the most exciting period in recent history and this place is a ghost town

Well hello there.

It helps if you don't go away for a long time. At least you are back now.

It's not the number of friendships which folk have, it's the quality that counts. Bye bye.

It don't sound like you're welcoming him back with open arms, SEL.

200 posts in 7 years? Gosh - when was he 'banned', and what on earth for??

Sounds like you're still bitter about the ban. I hope you can move on with your life after posting this.

Silver. Contrary to the embittered and frankly overdue angst of the OP, the Mods on here don't have, and neither have they ever had, the power to ban someone. That 'power' exists purely within the means of Admin.
The system is this, if a Mod, or Mods, consider that a posters contributions consistently break the rules of this forum then the matter is raised within the staff room.
Once Mcdogs returns from his second career as a sex tourist in the Phillipines and Katana is allowed unfettered computer access at Rampton, they review the concerns raised. The issue of a ban is put to a quorum of Mods and if all parties agree then they, and only they use the ban button.

A poster can be eventually banned for using threats, racist, homophobic language, unlawful accusations or libellous comments (See disclaimer on the home page) and in the rarest of cases, just fitting into the category of the below diagram innit..........

Knowing how to read through the lines and cut through the bullshit, Mr Silver, he can jump off a cliff edge for all I care.

Hmmm ... if I am reading between the lines correctly SEL old bean, I'd say he upset you a bit.

(Like when I told my dad in 1966(?) when mum bought a Honda 50 that "it was time to forgive and forget". Will never forget the hurt in his face. Only 30 years later did I find out that after his wartime experiences in Burma (of which he NEVER spoke a single word), he was involved in Military Intelligence (ok - cut the jokes!) de-briefing ex-Japanese-PoWs. Many families were told sons/husbands were killed rather than allow families to see shell of a person they had become in the 'care' of the Japanese. They lived out lives in secret on Pacific islands...

And this was a man happy to buy VWs despite his battle with Germans, and his father being gassed by Germans in WW1. He felt that German soldiers were 'honourable' and 'played by the rules' (always accepting that the horror of the genocide was completely something else, but on the battlefield....). The Japanese did not. Not just the 'bosses', but the whole fighting force...

Hey ho! And young people today think they have it tough.....

Very thought provoking, I like to think of this forum as being like that "comedy" series The Last of the Summer Wine, I think I am that Compo character cos everyone else on here is boring.

Just post on The Mix as well like I do, that forum is like The Mary Whitehouse Experience, milky milky

No mate, not in the slightest. I had a laugh and then just kicked him in the groin - he obviously won't be returning..

Apart from that, Mr Silver, it was an interesting history lesson.

I doubt you will get intelligent football debate on any forum Mr Fist not unless it was by invite only like the old Amys Tavern.
Often with more joining in a thread can go off on various tangents and get diluted beyond repair.

Perhaps it was around the time when you were making posts before.
