Not sure if Wolves will revive their interest, he is a favourite of Kevin Thelwell.

Maybe Grant Holt might be a deadline day signing too?

Holt is a player / coach at Barrow these days but I am sure that Kevin's (shropswolf's) influence could tempt him back here to help us get promoted. 8)

A good clear-out.

So was Grant Holt  However, I quite like Martin, and I think he would give us a more conventional attacking presence and he has plenty of Chump experience. Where is he at present?

He's not even making the Derby bench at present. Rowett really doesn't seem to rate him. So weird after they gave him a new contract last year and the fuss they had with Fulham over him.

I think this window will show us the difference now at Wolves, the difference between signings for glory or signings as an investment opportunity.

More likely to see more players arriving who Wolves can develop rather than those chasing another large wedge.
Very considered signings.

Young and hungry, same policy we have always had, problem is everyone else is trying to implement the same strategy.

Looking like more out than in anyway, not surprising given our summer spending. Agree with it, save our powder for the summer.

Mendes being the game changer for Wolves who wont take the riskier signings others will this window.

Rumours coming out confirm this. Don't expect any big new signings. A couple of youngsters from abroad 'for the future', and maybe secure Jota....

So no RWB, no CF.

I am happy we have enough to win this league, and happy that we are saving our big spend until the summer when we are more likely to attract bigger names with promotion 'in the bag'.

The key now is to kick on and smash this league, so we can start negotiating BEFORE end of season, and do so with confidence we are going to make a serious bid to be other than 'making up numbers, as cannon fodder' in Prem (like we have been previously!)

But, we still need a striker with a proven goalscoring record, even if it's only at Chump level.

thats an interesting statement.

If we continue to struggle to score goals and it eventually costs us - will you eulogise about the transfer approach then ?

I hope the Spain break proves the Tonic the Troops needed - so the rest of the season runs like clockwork and we can get out of this rat trap of a league- or we will have been conned.

Totally agree with you kk.
Wolves and anything else, including players will be for investment.
If there isn't a profit in it,leave it alone.Makes sense to me.

Even so, we do need someone who already knows how to net onions.

Another keeper rumoured ... a young lad from Denmark...

Not sure this is a priority. We seem to have a number of young 'uns. Are 2/3 to be cleared out??

This is NOT a priority. If any of Jota, Neves, Douglas or Boly get crocked for the season, then what???

17, but 6ft 3in. Will be a big lad when he grows up.

Hopefully he can catch, has quick reactions, can kick & throw, AND command his box and organise a back 4.

All those? might well make it...!

Took a big Latvian on trail. 6ft6 striker 19 years old and a full international. Like the look of him, really good with the ball at his feet, like the fancy flick, can pick a pass and run with the ball. Not massively prolific but I wouldn't worry about that too much yet.

Really.

I fear that Kevin Thelwell and Scott Sellars are once again letting standards drop below the top level squad with this kind of signing a complete waste of everyones time.

Time to reevaluate and get a grip on reality.

The Duck out the exit door to Oldham. Oh ok, lets get another chancer through the welcome door. Pointless.

I doubt Sellars has any influence at all on the players who come to the club.

Didn't we take on a scout recently specifically for the Northern European leagues? May well have come from him.

There's a massive problem if Sellars is not involved in the recruitment process at this stage because he has to add components missing from the pattern required at first team levels.

Players fall away at different age groups, you have to maintain the pattern as laid down by those who formulate the clubs identity.

Afobe on his way on loan with a view to a permanent signing, it seems.

Surely Bournemouth would rather use Afobe as a makeweight in a deal to get some PL quality into the squad than simply loan him out?

Unless he is a totally disruptive influence behind the scene, a loan fee will be peanuts for them at PL level. Weren't Watford supposed to be interested?

ALl over the place - the Afobe loan move.

At least it gives Nuno a chance to see if he fits in style-of-play wise AND character wise. If he tries the big ego "I'm a Premier player me" stuff, he'll be gone. If he knuckles down, it could be good for both.

A big opportunity for him, and little risk for us....
