Rumoured widely that Costa and Cavaleiro are available, but that Nuno is sticking with Traore.

IF any truth, are we leaving ourselves very exposed for Europa league?? Could Costa & Cav not have been good options for Thursday nights in far-flung places?

Presumably we are EXPANDING not shrinking our squad? In which case, really hope we have better replacements lined up - and several of them!

In Nuno I trust, but in the media I do not!

I doubt Kevin Thelwell expected the fee to be in excess of 30 million. Do be near double that should be a reminder to the lack of value within the English market.

Nearly signed him five years ago but were beaten to the punch by Brentford so switched attention to Kortney Hause.

I don't actually think Tarkowski is that much better than Bennett. What about Stones if he becomes available, Nuno's defensive coaching could help him, as well as the three at the back system. Don't know where we are on wages though and how much we would be prepared to pay.

Good point about wage levels, several targets would be lost to Wolves at this time because the levels are Premier league modest.

No doubt things are going on behind the scene (i hope  ) but the perceived lack of activity is starting to be a concern to me.

But the bonuses are high. Do we want players who back their ability and so earn higher money?

Not many players moved so far that you would want at Wolves, its a question of waiting while some big deals triggers movement of others.

Waiting for sure. A lot of players contracts run out on June 30th, after that slowly and surely things will get going. We presumably know our targets and will wait and see what transpires.

And it's probably a new FFP year.

I don't think the year-ends count for much in terms of concluding deals. Any transfers are generally to take over a player's contract on 1 July, regardless of whether the player signs on 20 May or 1 July.

This was always likely to be a tricky window for us. We have qualified for the qualifying round of the EL, but aren't assured of a place in the main competition, which will increase our available budget and our exposure to the wider world.

P.S: Maybe a mod can alter the title of this thread to reflect the year or we start a brand new thread?

May well be true, but it's getting very frustrating - a surprising dearth of even outrageous rumours! Everything seems just very very quiet....

Hope (and expect) we have some significant moves in the next fortnight!

Important for Wolves to be meticulous in their planned signings, why gamble.

Its easy to fill a dressing room with junk, its far harder to empty it.

Mick was the king of that. Buy anything, play once or twice then discard. We have moved on, way passed that.

I assume we are just waiting until they finish in the Gold Cup to unveil that Mexican fella, given the comments coming out of that part of the world a few weeks ago.

Young defender - Nya - signed from PSG where he captained U19 last year, and beat Liverpool and several other 'big names'.

Let's hope he and the other young lad - Sanderson (signed a 3 year deal - and another defender) - develop more than Iorfa and Hause did, who were also touted as great hopes just a few years ago....

Hopefully our coaching is now much much better!

According to the Sunday Times, Wolves are closing in on signing Konsa from Brentford this summer.

We are not used to Wolves being this smart during transfer windows,
Konsa ticks so many important boxes its difficult to imagine a better signing when taking everything into consideration.

In lieu of the Mexican fella I guess. Sounds like a good signing but I am leery of a Hause or Iorfa situation, big lad for his age syndrome.

Funny ain't it? On a site dedicated to Wolves and all things Wolf, the number of posts on The News Stand FAR exceeds those about Wolves, or football in general.

I'm sure we all contributed more when we had more to moan about! Perhaps we're getting complacent....!

Yep - another major signing - to go with 18 year olds Wan and Nya (are those right? Cheap for shirts...!). This time a 16 year old wondered from Northern Ireland - Hankin.

Just hope all these youngsters grow up very very quickly!

I actually like the patience required to get the better options that the transfer market eventually provide.

Gianluca di Marzio reports that negotiations are not at an advanced stage between Lyon and Sampdoria for the Ligue 1 side to sign Danish international central defender Joachim Andersen.

The 23-year-old has interest from across Europe, but the Italian journalist suggests that the two clubs are close to an agreement worth €25m plus bonuses.

One that may have been on Wolves wanted list.
