Tremendous stuff. Can't believe it really, more than we really could have hoped for at this stage.

Another great 3 points without playing particularly good football. Excellent battling in tough conditions though.

Grinding out wins when we don't play at our best is what makes a good team. Rui man of the match?

Very scrappy first half although both teams played fluid football but a much better second half.
Patricio made three great saves and we missed a couple which should have been buried - particularly the one where Costa(?) was two metres offside before the ball was crossed.
Palace fans up in arms with Roy for sideways and backwards football (where have I heard that before?) but imho they played well...but not as well as us. Zaha was limited to very few chances.
Patricio was my man of the match.

Before the match Woy said he wouldn't want the tag of "the best team ever to come up to the Prem". Me? Love it.

'Best team to be promoted to the EPL' etc.

It got a bit silly towards the end with tit-for-tat crunching tackles but no one ended up hurt. Pleased you had a good day SAEL It was a good day but the first half was for the purists which, if may be bold, I think I'm becoming a member thereof. It was a bit like a pre-season friendly. There was a lot of huff and puff with skilful movement from the back to midfield from both sides, excellent tackling from both defences and poor passing in the final third from both sides. Each side looked as if it was going fast to nowhere. The second half was a different matter but the very wet conditions still made it difficult for those up front to demonstrate that they were better than the oppo. Patricio's saves were the moments to remember and the goal came out of the blue. It was reminiscent of the Wet Spam game in parts despite that being played on a very sunny and warm day. The key to both victories lies in patience and keeping shape. To say that our defence was never troubled is a fallacy as Palace should have scored three from shots on target and we should have scored three from shots off target. Zaha was isolated and Palace resorted to long punts upfield at the end which either we gobbled up or went out of play. Still, we scored the one that mattered and we all went home happy. Don't ask me to rate each player because I can't do that kind of thing - but at least I'm honest.
