Watched the whole game, thought he looked 'adequate' as a midfielder but his finishing is woeful.

MGW retains his place in the Eng under 21 squad, based on what?

Based on ridiculous journalism, and failure to actually WATCH performances.

Cannot see that picking him does the lad any favours - it just perpetuates the idea in his head that he is international class.

I wonder if Spurs woes are linked to similar ideas getting into the heads of the likes of Ali, and the rest??

A great friend of mine, and great coach, was renowned for his comment to schoolboys that "as soon as you think you are a good player, you cease to be one".

Reports that Ronan had a good game playing as a ten against Italy under21 for the Irish youngsters.

I think that Ronan has more about him than MGW. MGW has believed the hype about himself and thinks he has made it, when he still has lots to learn.

I honestly don't know. I haven't seen Ronan play and MGW looks good in flashes but disappoints as much as he impresses.

I wouldn't write MGW off yet.

Conar Ronan came on at halftime for Ireland U-21 v Sweden when they were 1-0 down. Won 4-1, below is Irish Independant report on him.

Connor Ronan

Few players have had as productive a 45-minute cameo as Ronan last night. Introduced at half-time after an injury to captain Jayson Molumby, what could have been a fatal blow for Ireland instead turned into the catalyst for victory.

Ronan immediately got on a wealth of ball but it was two glorious assists that caught the eye in Tallaght. His brilliant ball over the top of the Swedish defence allowed Troy Parrott fire Ireland into a two-goal advantage, before Ronan's nice run down the left saw him find Zak Elbouzedi for the finishing touch.

Hard to justify the number of opportunities we have given MGW when Ronan has had so few.
