What an interesting day - topped off by meeting Jimenez on the train back from Bournemouth (to Wolverhampton via Banbury). Bizarre!!! (I got a picture, but the file won't load on here!)

Why did Nuno let Raul (and Jonny and Dendonker) get the train? I thought he insisted the team were together before during and after matches? Seems odd. Anyone know the reason?

Anyway - a fairly miserable south coast afternoon lit up by a sparkling display in the first half. Completely over-ran them, bossed the game in every area of the park and could (should?) have had 4 by half time. It really was men vs boys. Then they lost a player, we perhaps mentally relaxed, had a 3rd goal ridiculously and wrongly disallowed (and the useless thing known as VAR did not correct the 'clear and obvious fault', but would have if the ref had blown 3 seconds later... MAD!!!)

And then it all went wrong. Second half display was very disappointing. We stopped doing the pressing high tempo game, and allowed Bournemouth to come back into the game. OK - we had more chances (and Jota SHOULD have scored, not seen another 'good save') - but so did they - and had Patricio to thank for a wonder-reaction stop to deny Ake.

Relieved at final whistle. Yes - we were by far the better side, but should have really rubbed their noses in it. Yes - we have a game Thursday, and perhaps wanted to conserve some energy, but surely a 5-0 away drubbing would have given us all the energy and confidence we needed against Braga?

Patricio - 8 - great save, and distribution better. One EXCELLENT catch when under pressure near the end.
Dendonker - 8 - another really solid game. So much better with a RCH who can move forward and find a pass, not just look inside for Neves (a la Bennett)
Coady - 6 - surprised to see his really high scores in some papers. Yes - he made 3/4 great interceptions, but in 2nd half was bossed about by their CF mercilessly and lost most headers.
Saiss - 7 - very solid game BUT why oh why does he have to get booked so early in so many games? Walking a tightrope.... Now out for Sheff Utd game... Grrrr! We needed his presence!
Doherty - 8 - nearly back to his best. Marauding well, and did some good defensive work when under the cosh.
Neves - 8 - very solid performance. Lost his man a couple of times, but with the ball was much more the confident of Neves of last year. Shooting boots very nearly on target - 4 times!
Moutinho - 9 - masterful. Where does the guy get his energy and enthusiasm (as well as talent!?) Fantastic goal, and quick thinking made the2nd.
Jonny - 7 - good defensive work, but not quite as adventurous going forward as I would like today.
Traore - 7 - getting boring! Beats player; pulled down or back. Booking. Why not run AT players more often and FORCE the foul just outside (or inside) the box. We should be playing 9/10 men most weeks as defenders just cannot cope. Lovely cross for 2nd goal.
Jimenez - 9 - another superb selfless performance topped off with a lovely finish. Difficult to know without whom we would struggle most - Patricio, Moutinho, Traore, Jimenez....
Jota - 8 - nearly back to best. So unlucky to have 'goal' disallowed. The great ball that set him through a bit later, he SHOULD have scored instead of drawing another good save from keeper.

Subs: Barely given a chance. Nuno only changes when he really feels he must.

Great day - but could have been even greater! But up to FIFTH (although miles behind 4th and only just ahead of ... well much lower, so NO complacency please, Wolves. Two defeats would see us plunge down table again!!!)

Supporting Wolves has NEVER been this much fun!
