The most toxic club to manage at present, an awful shambles.

Allardyce and Moyes both gone.

Nuno is in danger of being one of the top ten longest serving club managers when the Prem starts!

(OK - Klopp, Guardiola, Hughton, Wagner (unless poached!) safe ... and probably Mourinho... but rumours re Pochetino & Tottenham never mind new faces at West Ham, Everton, Arsenal, Chelsea(?) Leicester.... and is Southampton safe... and will Benitez stay at Newcastle and Howe and Dyche at Bournemouth and Burnley, or will a top 6 club come looking????)

Meanwhile Allardyce gets a couple of million more for a few months work and can start looking for the next mug team now.

Hurst takes over at Ipswich. Good luck to him but I think he'll be out of his depth there and with a tight arse owner to boot.

Frank Lampard installed as manager at Derby, a very big ask in his first job, he'll need all the luck in the world in the Championship rat race.

Lampard has oodles of class and experience. He is a leader. He is personable. He is good with people. He is VERY bright. He seems not to be involved in any 'big star' nonsense antis thought his career. He does not seem a boozer. He has interests outside of the game, birds and gambling. He seems a thoroughly decent bloke with a drive to succeed.

Why on earth would he NOT make a good manager?

I think that provided he gets good support from a good team around him (quality, not just 'jobs for me mates') and perhaps an old, wise head to turn to in tough times, then he could well be an excellent appointment.

I would think he would be in an excellent position to attract both young ambitious wannabes and the occasional 'experienced head' to provide leadership on the field. Will be fascinating to see how he does.

Patrick Viera installed as the new manager at Nice, in France. From the tinpot USA MLS league to French Ligue Un, a big step up for him.

Bielsa new manager at Leeds, if they keep faith and stop ditching managers every month or two, they might actually get somewhere.

It wont work and they will be lucky to avoid a relegation battle, totally the wrong type for the Championship.
His players will be knackered by Christmas if he continues his training methods and high press match tactics.

Strange club Leeds.

Such egos in Bielsa and the Leeds owner too. I expect it’ll end over that before it’ll end based on actual footballing reasons.

But I do think it is a tough fit for a such a long and grueling season like the Championship. Going to need a lot of depth to work out.

These clubs see the Wolves model and fail to see although Wolves had a near perfect season there were stages where it all could have fell apart.
But Wolves had strong people on the touchline, on the pitch, in the boardroom who held it all together with a quiet strength.

It is a grind and it will wear most teams down.

We got extremely lucky with injuries too. If Neves or Doherty had got a mid-long term injury that would probably have ended the season.

Yes, the Hull home game showed us the importance of both players in making this system work.

A couple questions:

1. Who will be the first manager sacked in the Prem this season?

2. Which managers in the West Midlands will survive the season?

1. I'm going with Javi Garcia as Watford rotate managers very quickly. Next guess would be Mark Hughes because he's terrible. But Southampton are a little more patient as a club.

2. Nuno - safe, Bruce - think he'll survive at least one more season; Monk - will do a solid job with Brum, would only leave if he gets a better job IMO; Moore - really unsure about this one; John Askey (Shrews) - Hurst left for Ipswich, so I guess he's the most likely candidate as I think their success last season will be difficult to replicate; Keates (Walsall) - Could be him as well as Walsall barely survived last season
