So on this basis, we are more likely to be relegated than the likes of Bristol City and Brentford. A very telling indictment.

As we see a leveling out with many of these clubs including Wolves regarding total budgets for the season its comes down to recruitment and managerial ability.

The bookies have little faith in ours.

At this stage my top six for next season.

Norwich.
Newcastle.
Villa.
Brighton.
Sheff Wednesday.
Nottm Forest.

Its another game where the blokes in the dugout require an ear piece to receive some tactical in game theory from the stands.

It was what it was a whole hearted Championship game with the team of high pedigree hardly tested.

Sheffield Wednesday gave a three year contract to a foreign coach who couldn't extend Steve Bruce.

His use of Barry Bannon was a clear example of not knowing how to exert any influence through midfield.
You put someone behind Bannon a Jack Price type and you change the dynamics of the game, he failed as a coach on that very elementary level.

Steve Bruce could have been listening to Frank Sinatra;s greatest hits such was the ease of the victory.
And then in the second half Bruce did a stupid thing he replaced Snodgrass who had that sector of the field stitched up.
Players know when they are playing well, when they have the measure of their immediate opponent, thats why Snoddy was livid when substituted.

So Bruce opened with a 4-2-3-1 before closing the game out with a 4-1-4-1.

Way to go the English coach you beat the foreign guy pretty easily.

I agree Norwich and Newcastle will be strong (former will keep most squad, latter will buy a new bunch), but unconvinced Villa will be in top half never mind top 6.

Not convinced by Forest or Wednesday either.

If only we could recruit a couple of decent, and keep injury free, I see no reason why we COULD not be somewhere from 4th to 9th.

I think Norwich will be out of sight by next March and any team who are within ten points will get promotion.
Obviously Newcastle and Villa have to recruit correctly and both clubs have to regain confidence which takes time.
But apart from Brighton, maybe Derby there's very little quality in the Championship.

Sheff Wednesday are no great shakes who could fall away as easy as mount another promotion challenge. Depends on the owners generosity.
Forest have their key goalscorer coming back and have with three or four additions a dangerous squad for any to encounter. If they get it right.
The others, much work required this summer.

Its at times like these when the likes of Sam Allardyce and all those arsehole badge kissers from previous generations go missing.

I was listening to a conversation, recently about Dario Gradi, allegations aside.
When in charge at Crewe, it's claimed, he was on 25% of any transfer fees received, while the club struggled.
That's 1983-2011..that's 28 years of skimming of the top.

That and the sexual abuse scandal that many believe he knew about. Admired him because he stuck with one club for so long, but it looks like there were reasons he might not leave.
