What I look for is teams who have a measured system of play, and they are few and far between.

Middlesbrough, Wolves, Bournemouth and Derby so far seem to be playing with good units.

Can Wigan join the party this evening.

There's massive question marks against many of the others who seem to be getting results off the back of individual talent, not collective efforts.

As individuals move in and out of form so those clubs lose their consistency.

Have you got Forest down as a team of a measured system or success on the back of individual talented players?

Nope, they are badly in need of a commanding centre half.
They concede space down the flanks to easily plus their central midfield lacks balance.

If i could take one player to Wolves from Forest it would be the youngster Ben Osborn, he excites me. Lovely player, marvelous perception.

If Nouha Dicko faced a lengthy absence due to injury the closest like for like replacement to my mind is Jaanai Gordon, available on loan from West Ham.

Lee Clark at Birmingham

I thought they would do Norwich at the weekend because although they look like a pub side without real pattern with a very loose shape about them.
They do have talent in key areas.

Lee Clark though he just amuses me so much, you can't take him seriously when he drones and moans with half baked theory, but he's priceless entertainment.

He's just the type who shouldn't be anywhere near football management, i doubt anyone will tell him though because he cares passionately.
He's the kind of guy who will have endless sleepless nights searching his mind for answers and never find them.
Its cruel in a way, but at least he will enjoy the involvement.
Thanks Lee Clark in another life you would be Robin Williams or that bloke off Crackerjack.
And the next installment please.......Fulham at home, that should be fun.. Away win.

Listening to a local football phone in last night while traveling back from Bescott, its a though Blues fans didn't see this situation coming.
Do they not use their eyes.
Oh by the way Walsall were excellent, especially Romaine Sawyer.

When your down at the bottom, broke and in need of a little inspiration you just need that leadership.

Step forward David Perkins at Blackpool, a player who has done the rounds in the lower leagues, now setting a wonderful example.
Well done, there should be more like you. Thats a footballer.

Wigan Athletic.

It will be a good time for them to go to Wolves, the home manager has been over thinking his strategy and has tried to shoehorn this seasons signings into a well balanced functional team.

If Wigan can get to half time all square at Wolves they can go on to win the game.

The crowd would turn because of deep scars built up during decades of under achievement.
Wolves crowd has a soft underbelly due to a lack of confidence.

Andy Delort first goalscorer, couldn't happen could it Price 17/2.

Hold the back page though if Michael Jacobs is selected you could really sting the bookies.

The Championship must appear to be a great league if you're on the outside looking in, but if your in there be prepared for a roller coaster ride.

With Millwall next up for Wolves its an opportunity to study the methods, shape and players.
Someone like Lee Gregory intrigues me, not really seen that much of him and looking to see if his levels are good enough to be seen as a future purchase.

Its this kind of player that Kenny Jackett will place under scrutiny, but unlikely to follow up with even a limited inquiry.

Oh defeat against Charlton and a point against Wigan, one point from six, best thing that could happen to Wolves at this stage of the season.
Fans were getting way ahead of themselves, that now will prove to be a reality check for everyone.

Grounded now and more focused on team ethics and team building. Long way to go, just a blip.

It was Huddersfield kk, but I get your point. Encouraging start but a long way to go.

Younger fans may view the home advantage in a different light, as through the decades that advantage becomes less and less.

At last a semblance of sanity returns to the form book, well quality book, the first half a dozen fixtures yesterday went the way of the better side.
Past that Wolves and Blackburn made life difficult through poor team selections, while Wigan must be on the floor confidence wise.
Watford surprise me, i just don't see enough individual quality or team ethics for a promotion push, must study them harder.

You can second guess your own football clubs managers theory with the teams performance.

Take Jackett at Wolves there's a lot of sound theory within his team selection and how he is looking to change his game plan.
You could list ten or so pros and cons and still be left scratching your head for more detail.

On the minus side to remove Danny Batth from his comfort zone, i can't see helping him, to also not give your quarterback McDonald protection is high risk.

That key position in transition the availability of the number 10 to receive the ball and then dictate the play continues to be Wolves achilles heal.

What to do, initially give more thought to the starting positions of the wide players, they may have to start from deeper.

Danny Batth in isolation.

The theory of centre back positional play is based on speed and space, allied to cover and responsibilities.

People talk about slow centre backs being turned, i don't see John Terry getting turned much the last fifteen years.

Here's just one little part of the theory.

A quick runner on his starting blocks, waiting for the gun. Another slower runner ten yards behind running and picking up speed.
When he goes past the runner in the blocks, the runner in the blocks can then start running, how long before he can catch up?
Intuition buys you those first few yards.

Tuesday night game.

Watford vs Nottingham Forest.

Although many of us see Forest falling away as the season progresses, its these games that potential promotion candidates have to win.

Lets check out Watfords quality, are you good enough to win this game convincingly. Can you do them 2-0.

It's nearly ten hours since Derby County conceded a goal. Six clean sheets in a row, equalling their 1912 club record. (This includes one league cup game.)

Still a good side though.
Watching some of the other sides without the ball are just chancing their luck.

Usually the midfield roles to their own back fours without the ball finds them out.

Nottm Forest, Cardiff, Charlton, Ipswich and endless others just don't do things right.
Just chancers hoping that on the day someone within their ranks produces some individual brilliance.

The side that looks well drilled but comes unstuck usually through poor individual quality, Sheff Wed.

Did you watch Blues concede those eight goals, what did you think tactically.

Blues players constantly chasing back facing their own goal.

And the coach on the touchline did nothing, was he drunk.

A defenders sanctuary if the ball is played wide by his opponent is his own penalty area.

Put the burners on when the ball goes wide, head for that sanctuary, have the game played in front of you.

Well thats fucked it...

Nottingham Forest sign Tom Ince on a loan deal until Dec 28, and with that signing move into the group of clubs with promotion potential.
Ince is just to good for this level and shouldn't be faffing about at a club like Forest, he should be in the England squad.

Wolves get Sagbo, Forest get Ince, yep thats pissed me off big style.

Wolves sign Ince, Wolves promoted, lets hope thats a belated Christmas gift.

This period now through until Christmas is where i see two teams making the surge towards automatic promotion.
Looking at Middlesbrough And Derby County to really raise their game as the standout clubs within the division.

Bournemouth will be in the top six, not good enough for automatic but enough to see them in the play offs.

Middlesbrough are the likely champions and I see they have shortened to 6/1 from 8/1. So get on quickly.

If we bring in a genuine striker, I'll actually believe. If we don't, Boro have as good a chance as my pick Derby

We could scrape through even if we bring the wrong striker(s) in (again) so long as Sako doesn't leave, Sako stays fit, Dicko stays fit, and Mali don't make it to the ACN or it gets cancelled. Cancellation might be a real possibility.

Isn't there a chance the ACN will be called off because of the threat of Ebola? Algeria are rightly getting very nervous at the possibility of the problems that the threat of Ebola may cause in their country.

Yes indeed. It's very likely. The hosts have even requested it. Daft to even be playing the qualifiers.
