Would be disappointed if Albion got the richest man in Asia backing them.

Though if I were him, I'd go for a much bigger brand.

Typical Albion. Always trying to outdo us.

This takeover has been on the cards for weeks, they were close to completing it at the end of last season apparently, but it was seemingly going quiet. We'll just have to see what happens.

Been hearing figures of £150-200 Million quoted, yeah sure they're an "established" Premier League team but who's gonna pay that much for a team on the slide, a delusional fan base and a ground that's about fit enough to accommodate Shadwell Town, the only thing going for them is no debt (as with us).

Lots of Chinese money floating about but surely they can't be that stupid.

I'm trying to be as unbiased about this as I possibly can. But where is the investment opportunity with Albion?

They're already a Premier League club, so that's an extra £100m premium on top of their asking price, over buying a potential Championship alternative.

They're probably a bottom 8 Premier League club at present, and their squad isn't head and shoulders above the 3 clubs that came up, though they are slightly better. So it'd take the best part of another £100m to get them challenging the big boys consistently. It'd maybe take £140m to take a Championship club to the same level.

Their ground is surrounded, not a great deal of room to expand. Therefore they'd need to relocate, but where to.

In short, I think a Championship club, in the right location is probably a better investment opportunity.

Unless, your stupidly rich and money means nothing, which could also be the case for whoevers looking at buying them.

The Chinese are buying up all the West Midlands clubs so they can merge them into one super club...

Maybe they will get lucky and Mendes won't be anywhere near this takeover.

Not me Mate, I'm hoping that their new owner turns out to be ''Guochuan Lai-ing Git''.

On the other-hand, it would make the local derby games interesting IF all 3 Chinese owned clubs are contending for the Premiership Title and that the long forgotten Midlands can knock the Manchester and London Clubs off their perches.

I do wonder what the ultimate plan is though with all of this Chinese investment into our once great industrial base. Perhaps they see us in the future producing stuff on the cheap whilst the Chinaman sits at home on the dole.
