I've got a lot of time for Mick, but he has a limited shelf life .

He doesn't do himself any favours by ranting like that but he makes a good point. People are only offended if they know they're the sort of fans he's referring too. Unfortunately I think his days at Ipswich are becoming numbered.

I think he did turn wolves fans against him who weren't overtly hostile but didn't particularly love his style thus increasing the level of antagonism. It looks like he is doing the same again at Ipswich now. He will need a decent run of resilts now if he is to win them back or its goodbye.

Who could Ipswich realistically attract that would be better than McCarthy? They are a Championship club with minimal finance, he is the perfect fit for them.

If he loses the fans and they put pressure on the board with their reaction then he will have to go. How about KJ? 8)

Mad Mick, played against Walter Zenga in Italia 90. Small world.

I bet most of his detractors didn't.

Would Mick have been a better bet with the money now available ? He certainly bought and cast off many a player when we had a bit of cash. The adjective fickle for the fans somewhat ironic.

Thats a fair point, his transfer targets and quality of football seem slightly improved both this season and last.
Unless they get very lucky they wont get very much better.

That's the thing. There's no use flinging a manager out with zero prospect of a better one turning up. Ipswich have had a steady string of appalling managers over the last 15 years. McCarthy for all his faults is a good fit for now.

Thing is Mick could relieve some of this pressure that builds on his position at any club by looking outside his normal sphere of influence.
If he added a continental tactical coach and revamped the scouting network with a continental theme he buys himself time.
But he wont do that he provides jobs for the boys in his inner circle. Loyal bloke is Mick.

Loyal or scared?

Better stick with TC who knows his place than bring in a skilled, ambitious assistant. And if you're hiring a tactical coach, how long until the owner wonders why we need the manager?

Is Connor a swear word in Tractor Boy speech nowadays?

I reckon Mick will be out on his ear at the end of this season with the thanks for taking them as far as he could etc. Hopefully, they won't appoint TC in his place followed by some Norwegian and a Welsh twat, but who knows as history repeats itself - allegedly.

If they did appoint Terry, in a Wolves stylee, would "you've been Connored" become a common phrase, for generations to come?

And here lies his main problem. It's not now and never was his job to be loyal to an inner circle of friends and acolytes. He is/was employed to be objective and do his best without fear or favour for the club that employs him.
