No chance. Lambert is here for the foreseeable future. I'm shocked they sacked him. I always assumed he would get poached tbh!

Having sacked Rowett, they'd better make sure they have a damn good replacement lined up, otherwise it could backfire horribly.

Zola rumoured to be the man... If I was a Small Heath fan, I don't think I'd be too chuffed about that.

Rowett for Zola is like cashing in a Rolls Royce and driving away from a Motor dealer in a Reliant Robin while having a brief smile on your face.

Fuck me as soon as you leave the forecourt your dealer is belly laughing all day long.

I just don't get it. Zola's managerial record is abysmal. I just don't understand why owners of football clubs keep going for managers who have failed so consistently?

The fact he was a famous player should have nothing to do with it? maybe it might get a few players to join the club who wouldn't normally, but what good is that if the team plays shit?

Zola is a nice guy with good intentions but never in a million years is he cut out for football management.

Just an ex player looking for a matchday release because he loves the game.

He will probably walk away with a tear in his eye in the close season.

Meanwhile the club that takes Rowett has won the lottery, he's a winning ticket.

Won two out of their last ten Norwich I think, I dont think Rowett is a good fit for them, but Ipswich would be right up his street.

I'd like to see him at Swansea, this week.

Swansea are doomed regardless, hard to sustain being above their natural level for too long, would need a guarantee to be manager for the next season regardless.

Monk doing well at Leeds I notice.

If they take Rowett it gets the club organised again and they bounce back next season.

Rowett is the smart choice, will they take it or will they go for profile over talent.

Now 10 games without a win since they sacked Rowett.

Its the nature of the beast that is football because Blues are not playing badly but lack that edge to get a victory over the line.

Its those small margins that can make or break a manager.
Zola is tough, he had to be to get out of that shadow created by Maradona all those years ago.

Strength of character test.

Do Blues go one way at the end of this season while Gary Rowett goes another?

Highly likely, Rowett's sacking at Blues when the new owners came in was footballing suicide.

He was on his way out, allegedly, touting for a "better" job - rumoured to be us after Zenga left.

Without Chinese money Rowett would have been the no brainer smart pick for Wolves.

Handles the pressure when it gets hot.

Always makes me wonder what owners are thinking. The idea that Zola would make a better manager than Rowett. I mean, you don't even need to know anything about football. Just check the records ffs. I would be absolutely sick if I was a Blues fan. Thankfully....

Blues fans sick..shame, add that to Albion having one of the worst manager's ever, and Walsall fans, the few that go hurling abuse to everyone that moves at the home game...makes it an even better season:-)

The thing about Walsall and its never talked about is they own their own stadium yet still pay over 400k rent per year.

How does this work? Who is the rent paid to?

Whoever has final say in these decisions should quit. Get rid of Rowett, bring in Zola, then Redknapp...Just a disaster all around. Cotterill was an odd choice too.

The owner has three companies, one is a lame duck, in accountancy terms he is able to spread his profits as well as his losses..

Hmm, interesting. I've just looked up their accounts, they have £5.2m worth of land and buildings on their balance sheet, but they have the £400k rent paid on the Profit and Loss. Poor situation for the club

Sheffield United struggling for funds to buy new players during this transfer window, normal banks wont loan.

Have reached an agreement with different kind of bank, more speculative, higher percentage pay back.

seven or eight per cent and rising.

Hughes gone at Stoke, Gary Rowett now 7-4 second favourite for the job behind Martin O'Neill...

Stoke . overall 30% increase in income over past season.
Stoke managed to keep a lid on wages in 2016/17.
The wages bill only rose by £2.7m (3%) to £84.9 million. The previous season wages increased by 24%, so it appears that the club decided to gamble to a degree in 2015/16 on spending on players (and wages) prior to the new TV deal in 2016/17.
As a family run club funded by the Coates family, the owners are not particularly motivated by making profits.
Stoke have a solid financial base, but are still reliant on the Coates family, via Bet365, and are presently owed over £60 million, interest free, by the club.

I think that’d be a good choice for Stoke and solid move for Rowett. I think he could easily keep them up if the players will listen. Tough luck for Derby though lol

Ir would be the best chance of Villa getting promoted, Rowett leaving Derby, cant see it though I think Stoke suits someone like Ronald.

Dont know if it came from Rowett himself or his representatives thinking they are just looking after his interests.

But as soon as reports in the media linked Rowett to Stoke, two representatives of his were in the Derby owners office looking for a better longer contract for him.

Opportunists?
