Say what you like about Defoe, he has become a hero in EVERYONE's mind.

Despite having Sunderland, he has promised to get to see the lad Bradley -with weeks to live - as much as possible after return from England duties. He phones Bradley's mum every day for an update.

To hear him speak of being 'blessed' to have been able to share in Bradley's tragic life is an object lesson to ALL footballers in humility.

I hope that wherever he plays next year, EVERY set of supporters will cheer him to the rafters for showing that not ALL Premiership footballers are selfish, egotists who thin only of money and themselves.

Well done, Jermaine - the football world is proud of you.

He really has proved to be a wonderful ambassador for the game but more than that he has shown himself to be a compassionate human being.

Bradley Lowery bless him has shown remarkable courage, our hearts bleed for him and his parents during this final stage of his life.

Well done Jermain Defoe you made a massive difference.

Great posts you two. He's the first really decent ambassador for the game for a long time. I'd love it for him to come to us even if it was for only one season.

Jermaine Defoe is an example to us all. Heartbreaking to see a young lad's life drift away in such awful circumstances. God bless Bradley, his family, and Jermaine Defoe. I think I can safely reflect all our views on here by saying our thoughts and prayers are with them all at this time of unimaginable sadness.

I couldn't cope, if it was one of my boys. There are a lot of tragedies that happen in our world, and a lot of people die from terminal diseases, but for it to happen to children, is heartbreaking.

p.s. should this be in Football Chat?

Maybe he will continue his charitable streak and donate his play to Wolves.

But good on him. At least the kid will be able to make the most of his final days.

He showed true emotion yesterday, and broke down in his press conference..
But today is a sadder day..today we lost a true angel of the north.

A sad sad day. But let us be thankful that - thanks in no small measure to Jermaine and many other sporting heroes - sung and unsung - that this little lad had more hi-profile experiences in his tragically short life than many of us do in a several decades of existence.

Bradley - you have been an example to us all. Jermaine - you will always be a true hero for what you have done to bring some sunshine into a dark dark world.

Credit to the game, and an often maligned profession.
Such sad news about Bradley.
