This seems to be of very little interest, but the under 20's won their World Cup.

After the match, England forward Dominic Solanke, due to join Liverpool from Chelsea on 1 July, was awarded the Golden Ball given to the player of the tournament...
Previous winners of the award include Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, Luis Figo, Paul Pogba and Sergio Aguero.

Woodman was awarded the Golden Glove, given to best goalkeeper of the tournament.

This, plus the progress of the other England youth teams, can only be good

Newcastle are trying to reserect the deal on Dominic Solanke, a bloke name Charnley has ruined negotiations thus far.

A terrific achievement for Paul Simpson and his team, truly inspiring. But let's not forget that in today's business that is the Premier League, most of these heroes will end up in the Championship and League One. They will not get a look in at the highest level with all its high cost foreign imports...

The most important thing for me to take from this whole experience is the confidence it gives to the English academy system.

The confidence that England are now on track to produce more and more high quality technical talent.

I still feel these lads lack tactical direction but thats another stage for future English development.

Of that first eleven I see three going all the way, one midfield, two defenders, no attackers.

But the key I feel is the depth of talent, there are another fifty or more who could make higher progression from the same age group.

Good positive signs.

This title is nothing to scoff at. That Venezuela team was impressive IMO. Watched a few of their matches. They dominated the US, who dominated their group. And our current US U20 is supposed to be our best group of players ever. Were even missing a few of our best players who are regulars with their senior teams. Italy was good in the U20 WC too and England won. Solid achievement. A few players in there I wouldn't mind seeing at Wolves on loan or permanent.

Lost to Germany in a penalty shoot out. How unusual.

The gulf in class was crazy. England tactics all over the shop. Is that the best manager we can get?

The English players are far better than that its just piss poor preparation, poor system of play and a lack of clarity within the team ethic.

Some people you can trust to learn children the guitar or piano, others you trust to conduct an orchestra.
