Greetings from the island of Madeira, an 8 night holiday for me after recuperating from eye surgery and to escape the UK winter. Maritimo v Guimares on Saturday followed by Nacional v Porto B on Sunday. Scout some players and meet up with Ronaldo`s mum to get him at the Mol for next season if we go up...

Maritimo..ask them if they remember King John at centre half for them? When they won the second division in 1982.

Thanks, Cannock, I always had Big John as a striker. You learn something every day.

John Richards was a striker, and he was one of the very best. But after a season, they needed a centre half, and being firstly intelligent and surprisingly one of the tallest, he offered to play at the back...and thus they won the league

Maritimo 3 Guimares 2.
Great game of fast passing and movement for 94 mins. A joy to watch. The home winger Valente looks a player.
Nacional v Porto B......postponed, thick fog. Why they built a stadium up at 600m God knows. No buses for a Sunday 11-15 kick off, so I wasted 30Euro in taxis there and back. . Argh.
Flight home delayed by three to four hours. Stormy weather in Funchal. Argh..argh...Argh...!!!!
