Filthy thuggish behaviour shows him up as a low bred scutter for spitting at a girl. Sky sacked Andy Gray and Richard Keys for overbearing laddish nonsense yet they keep this gobshite on, double standards.

I'm always surprised that this type of incident makes the headlines when you consider good manners, courtesy and etiquette have been lost to the UK for decades.

It just stinks of hypocrisy.

Just imagine the schools system being asked by Government to drive up behavioural standards.

He is an ex-footballer nothing more. He is employed for his opinion on football, not life. However, his behaviour being who he is, with youth often blinded to the fact he is just an ex-sportsman, is used by them as a yardstick of what's acceptable.

He must be sacked.

Sky sacked Keys and Gray because their salary because their salaries were getting extortionate.

I am not too bothered, he has apologised so slap him on the wrists and move on.

I haven't seen the video nor wish to do so. I think that there are too many folk out wishing to goad professionals into a reaction to get their 15 minutes of fame.

You have Greeks on the pitch with a holstered pistol getting a decision changed, you have the Ron Atkinson and the Gray/Keys types saying things that should never have been recorded and made public, the Eric Cantona kung fu kick, racism etc. etc. etc.

To quote Jimmy Greaves, 'it's a funny old game'.

Shame ...he should have been sacked immediately...double standards by Sky.
Still I suppose spitting isn't a PC crime so they won't get the kudos of acting on it.

His media friends went to bat for him almost immediately. Saw more than 1 article from very popular journalists basically saying "he did bad but he genuinely seems sorry about it". There wasn't anywhere near the sort of witch-hunt in the media that followed the Keys/Gray incidents. Which allowed Sky to act accordingly.

Believe me, if the media had gone for him like they normally do Sky would have probably sacked him.

As an example:

Daily Mail head sports writer about Carragher:

https://twitter.com/OllieHolt22/status/ ... 4734400512

Compared to what he said about Gray:

https://www.mirror.co.uk/opinion/footba ... ng-3336716

It's also not really double standards. Gray/Keys aimed their sexist crap at work colleagues. If Sky didn't act they would have almost certainly opened themselves to lawsuits for not protecting their employers. Do you think Carragher would still be in a job if he had spat at a female Sky presenter?

While the incident happened a few years ago, I think anything done against women always prompts a bigger reaction. Just look at some sections of social media who have said that Carragher was spitting at the girl in the car. He clearly wasn't but there will always be some who will try and put a sexist spin on things.

I think the 'under' reaction has largely been because of the behaviour of the bloke doing the recording. It doesn't make Carragher's actions right but I can see why the reactions have been different.
