This is where Morgan will show us if he's learned anything, or is hell-bent on investing nowt, and blindly presuming that the Academy will produce our teams, for seasons to come, just because he built a new training set-up. I don't believe he's that naive, he must have learned a lot from the disastrous mistakes he's made, and the games he's watched, and he must know that three signings need to made in the Summer, in key positions, if we are to challenge for promotion. Massive Summer for the club, and if he backs us, it will be a successful season.

The question is, what does he want to achieve at Wolves, for Wolves?

Agree.

I am a big Steve Morgan fan. I believe he DOES have the club at heart. He has learned.

With the wages of Doyle & Sako & others gone, he surely recognises that THIS SUMMER is the time to really show the world we mean business for next year.

We have a good squad, with lots of good young (and one or two not so young) players, but we NEED THREE strong players to make us strong contenders next year.

The problem for KJ might be PERSUADING the people he wants to come to Wolves. Has to 'sell the project' to them - then deliver.

Morgan has already said the academy is his plan (ie no great spending).

Anyway, even if Morgan had the proverbial volte face and bounded into the boardroom, full of vim and vimto, with his spending intentions, Jez would be reliably at hand to extinguish those plans with his trusty bucket of cold water and "we don't want to do a Portsmouth" speech.

Jez will then buzz through to Thelwell's broom cupboard and gruffly demand an update on signing that 19 year old from Telford and, upon Thelwell's answer that "his agent wants to wait until August 31st to make a decision but he sounded pleased at the 50 quid a week offer", Jez will turn to Morgan and give him the misty-eyed "no more mercenaries, but local boys playing for a local club just like how Liverpool won all those cups, wasn't it" schtick and Stevie will promptly reward Jez with a bonus for being the best in the business for the umpteenth transfer window running.

Reminder that Chesterfield v Preston is on Sky Sports 5 tomorrow night, 7.45 kick-off. Our lad Ashley Carter probably on bench.

Ricketts scored for Swindon, who won 1-2 at Sheff Utd and are in a great position now.

Carter wasn't even on the bench for Chesterfield v PNE, which is a disappointment. Nasty bitty game, with PNE on top now having won 0-1. Difficult to believe we were playing at that level so recently; also difficult to believe that Jermaine Beckford was once highly rated.

Carter on bench, Chesterfield going out as it stands.

Ricketts on bench in Swindon v PNE play-off final. Preston have worst play-off record of all teams, I think I read somewhere. Big match for our Sam, whether he gets on or not I reckon.

PNE score early - Beckford - and then Swindon have an injury. Sam Ricketts comes on for most of game. Big one for him.

2-0 and looking bad for Swindon.

... now 3.

Not looking good for our Sam - or a contract!
