European night again against a side who will try and outskill us rather than outrun us.

Turkish sides can be pleasing on the eye up to a point though they often lack an end game.

Not a clue on the Wolves side but I hope our centre forward is given a rest.

Forecast.

Besiktas 1 Wolves 0.

They've had as mediocre a start to the campaign as we have had so both sides will probably play tentatively, especially having lost their opening games in the EL.

I hope we play the same back 5, and don't play the work experience kid from Madrid. A draw would probably be a decent result in the context of the group, a win would be evidence of us genuinely getting back into the swing of things.

Jota out, Jimenez getting a rest and not heading to Mexico for the IB so might get a full ninety minutes.

Hard to call without seeing the line up but it'll be a very hostile atmosphere as always in Turkey, think a narrow defeat.

Like the line up, aggressive, interested to see the old CM partnership and the two youngsters up top with Raul.

Awful, why do we not put the ball in when we work an opening in the wide positions.

Quietening the crowd when they are there for the taking, actually given them confidence, miss Jota and Raul still looks lethargic.

Keeping shape well enough, but the offensive play is AWOL. This isn't the 2nd leg after a 1st leg lead, we need to impose ourselves on their defence.

MGW may as well not be on the field, while Neto's control goes awry too often to allow him to move the ball quickly into dangerous areas. Jimenez must be very frustrated. No Jota, OK, he's injured, but Traore has to come on now.

MGW has been poor, not really his position either.

This is very dull. MGW is a hologram, and we could kill these off with a little more focus on attacking their defence.
We seem content to play the ball backwards too often, said it a thousand times now.

Nicely taken goal by our best player, but same old issues, paper thin squad that is in some ways weaker than last year, and players playing unnatural positions. We have always been negative, last season Raul and Jota carried the attack single handed.

The result papers over some ever increasing cracks. Jiminez needs a rest, the City game, where we do not have a prayer, would be a great opportunity. MGW is not ready for this level of football. A loan playing consistent first team football would have been more suited to him but the fact that our squad is so small necessitates that we need to keep him as back up. It was fitting that our best player got the goal.

The more the game went on, the more I thought Besiktas were there for the taking. Not many English teams win in Istanbul, but they were average at best. That said, we stuck at it and the subs made the difference. Traore put some good crosses in and Cutrone deserves a run in the side and a goal. Boly was a rock all night and he took his goal superbly, although credit to Neves for a sublime ball on to Boly's toe. Silas goal would have stood with VAR too.

Overall a famous night for Wolves, if not inspiring, and I hope all of those who travelled come home safely and with some great memories of Istanbul.

It would be wrong to claim it was deserved, but a very important win for our chances of getting out of the group and for building up some form. Saiss's non-goal looked very tight in the first place.

Good that Neves could get a nice assist, his confidence was looking shot until then - passing up a good shooting chance in the 1st half spoke volumes.

Hopefully Jota is back fit quickly as otherwise we are just too slow at moving the ball forwards. Our central midfield simply cannot do it and our wide midfielders are too erratic to rely on: Last EL group MGW was good, tonight awful, last PL game Neto was good, today mediocre.

For all his faults Traore is the best bet for creating some form of goal threat at present.

Another clean sheet though, the defensive structure of the side is looking much better now.

Got away with that, very poor creative performance , maybe one of the worst under Nuno, we looked livelier once Cutrone appeared and Traore had a good 45 minutes as sub. Boly was outstanding, without him we would be a relegation candidate. Very happy to have won it at the death but as someone stated earlier up the thread, it is papering over a lot of cracks we have at present. Three quality signings ( if available) needed in January.
