Well, the BIG day finally arrives and hopefully, whatever the result, we won't embarrass ourselves.

Interesting watching Jurgen Klopp on Wolves and Paul Lambert pre-match interview where he describes us as being DIRECT with a long ball aiming for a target man. He reckons he has watched our last three games, I guess on dvd or similar, but is he right?

No, he is not totally right in his observations. It depends on what team we select and he may get a surprise or two on that front. I do fear that Burgoyne will be as nervous as a kitten, especially if we concede early on. Ikeme being available would deffo have enhanced our chances. We have to keep it as tight as we can for as long as we can and take the opportunity that we may get at some stage. If we concede early, it will be a very long afternoon and potentially an embarrassing one but we are in with a shout, the players have to stand up and be counted again and show the form they showed at Stoke. Come on me Babbies..!!!

Course he is, its pretty obvious Paul Lambert doesn't want his team to play through the thirds.

These coaches come to England and cant believe how much time the ball goes in the air, then have a second ball fight, its completely alien to them.

First twenty, twenty five minutes is vital, Liverpool have to miss their chances for Wolves to stay in the game.

Klopp isn't daft and he will respect what we have to offer.
Liverpool will press high, it's the Klopp way and we will be hitting on the counter for 90 min
We have to ensure when we have the ball we pass it well.
Costa and Cavaleiro can't waste their opportunties and if Dicko plays, he may well score.

Is the game being streamed anywhere by the way?

Well, I bow to your superior knowledge, but from the games I have watched, I didn't see much evidence of Hoofball from the back aiming for big man up front to knock it down for the smaller bloke to put the ball in the Onion Bag.

Yes, our passing out from the back is not great, but that is probably because the back line is not composed enough, but hopefully, their confidence will rise IF we can keep more clean sheets. I see us as a very fast counter attacking team and IF one can get a longish ball to the feet of Costa then, we're on the attack.

I just don't see us or want to see us playing Pullis Ball.

Agreed bud

I don't see us playing hoofball, this is. Counter attacking footie is different to simply hoofing it up field and it's not just kick and rush. It requires an element of control and to keep the ball, reinsert possession well and be very decisive. Our pace up front has been used so well under PL

There are bound to be some decent ones with BT live coverage and an early KO. Ain't you got a Pub to go to and watch?

There are various interpretations of long ball games, if you have a Charlie Adam type player and you can create one on one situations use it.

Wolves will be looking to go past players, be positive on the ball, when you do that the space for everyone opens up.

If the games down the sides it suits Wolves, if its through the centre Liverpool.

What Liverpool have been doing of late is stopping the ball in possession, they will have looked at that. Killing their tempo.
I expect more one and two touch from Liverpool in the final third.

Won't the game be down the side KK?
Don't they like width and a wide pitch?

That comment from Klopp about Wolves playing long ball reminds me of an Aussie Rugby Union coach Saying England cant play an expansive game.

England then tried to play expansive and played into the Aussies game plan. Oldest trick in the book.

What I do believe is that Klopp will look to swamp Jack Price, trying to create errors in Wolves play high up the field.

What I'm looking for from Lambert is how he helps Price in those tight situations to enable Wolves ball retention.
If Price is swamped it could be a long day, so my focus is on Lambert tactically.

Interesting subs bench for them.

Can't complain about our line up, interested to see how the CB pairing works. No Iorfa with only one defender on the bench, interesting.

Evans is a curious choice from my point of view.

Oh, well...we'll see what happens. Off to the pub for the Guinness.

Our line-up looks more muscle than flair, but if that is what PL thinks is required then so be it.

I nearly choked on my Pasta when that second went in. What a great first half for Wolves, Burgoyne has had nothing to do as Stearman has been like a tremendous, but there again, they all have. If only the Pool defender hadn't got a toe in, Costa would have been in for goal of the season.

It'll be a game of two halves, but never forget, we scored TWO.

Stay on your feet, no rash challenges we need to keep eleven on the field. Introduce subs at the right time and who knows anything could happen second half.
