Thanks for your patience Toomb. I still think there is a danger of over analyzing at times. One thing for certain is that we will not score 1.6 goals tonight so I won't be betting my house on the stats.

Everyone uses expected goals, I guarantee at some point tonight, we will all think "he should have scored that". Expected Goals just tries to put a number on that.

And Expected Goals is fairly useless for a single game. It's more useful for looking at longer trends.

It's not for everyone, I happen to like stats and stuff, so get on with this. But I've never played to any great level, so have absolutely no insight into the game from that perspective. I like forums like this, because it brings together lots of different ideas and perspectives

Just thought I should say I was being a bit mischievous really. I was an analyst myself for a number of years so I understand the indicative value of such information. I do, however, think that the use of esoteric language can be off putting at times and you don't always need a set of statistics to highlight where there is a problem. (see what I did there)

Decent performance 2nd half. The two quickfire goals knocked the stuffing out of Brentford who passed it well but had no real attacking thrust.

Cav made a big difference and it felt like the team was waiting for him to come on all through the 1st half.

I thought Boly was very ponderous on the ball and I wonder if that was the reason for him being chosen to come off in the closing stages. Nuno seemed to stop him and discuss something for a good while.

I'll readily admit to being one of those fans worrying about foreign players settling. It wasn't really the odd wet or wintry evening match oop north, it was the Xmas/new year fixture pile up that concerned me - a world away from their usual winter break with some warm weather training camp[/quote]

That's just about my reservations too.
My grandson asked me if I am now convinced, how could I be otherwise.
I would love to be watching this stuff in the ground, just cannot do it.
Next season we will be in the PL so should see most games.
The highlight of the highlight for me was Barry's RIGHT foot smash and celebration.
Of all the great signings,Barry tops the lot for me,just love the bloke.
I should add that I thought Cavaleiro a disappointment last season and said so a few times.
What a turn around he's made this season.
Can't see why we can't break the Championship points at this rate, happy days.

I think Big Willy thinks that he's that big, that at times, opponents cannot get the ball off him, although he is very calm and self-assured. However, last night he was a tad too relaxed, as he and some of his defensive counterparts, almost dropped us in the shit half a dozen times!

However give me this pass from the back, and pass with purpose, over hoofball, all day long.

More likely, he was protecting him given he came off just the match before with a hamstring issue?

Fair point, he looked that comfortable, I'd forgotten about that!

For this lad's stag do his mates signed him to be Brentford's mascot. He's 38 and supports Wolves.
