When was the last time we actually started a game on the front foot and immediately put the opponent under the cosh?

Probably only vs Burnley and Leicester all season; Arsenal away was the only other bright start but that was them coming forward and allowing us to counter on them.
You could turn that around and ask how many teams have had us under the cosh from the start?

Brighton, Southampton and Bournmouth(ish). As for other games, it's been a case of hitting them on the break.

The trouble with that strategy, though, is that invites teams to attack so we do find ourselves under the cosh and have to rely on solid defending. At least that way enables us to attack with fewer oppo players between the ball and their keeper. In the past we've been too slow in passing the ball from one side to the other, back again and then starting the process all over again which has meant that we've had 10 oppo players behind the ball and we couldn't get through.

I guess hitting them on the break is Nuno''s answer to breaking them down.

Playing more on the front foot is something Nuno has learnt not to do at home v the top sides, we did an away game tactic v Chelsea and won, last night we sat back and waited to counter attack them and won again, albeit against a far weaker Liverpool side than the one we lost to just before Xmas. Nuno gets his tactics spot on most of the time.

NES left Porto because they were dropping too many points at home to teams they should beat as they were setting up too defensively and not scoring enough. For NES to take us to the next level he will need to work out a way we can dominate certain games.

He Nuno has it in his locker to set up in very offensive ways as Leicester found out in the Champions league.
