The FA Cup returns with a 5th round tie at Ashton Gate.

Win this and the fans will think our name is on the trophy.

I make Bristol slight favourites in a tight game.

Ruddy to start for Wolves if Nuno has promised him the Cup games.

Forecast.

Bristol 1 Wolves 0.

Difficult to call this one, as much depends on the team we put out. I reckon Bristol, full of confidence, will come flying out of the traps at us and possibly leave themselves vulnerable to breakaways. Get ourselves in front, I don't see them coming back. If we defend well, we win, but that's a big if.

I think Ruddy will play in goal. I suspect there's a gentleman's agreement that he's the 'cup keeper'

We need to play our full team and they need to be in full concentration mode, not just ambling around like many were content to do away at Shrewsbury.

Sadly I think Jota's substitution has condemned him to missing out and Ruddy will get another chance to flap around - at least Flint has left Brizzle in the meantime.

It's actually a pretty unlucky draw when you look at who's left in the competition, but if we bring our proper game we should handle it.

Think Nuno will rotate again and it will be a mistake, it's now 8 wins in a row for Brizzle and they could make it 9 tonight

I agree. Nuno has about 18 players who he likes to make feel that they are involved and he tries to give them all a bit of playing time when he can.

Won it with an injury time penalty. I seem to remember they were in a bit of form when we rocked up there last season as well. Should be a good game.

Sounds like they are due a loss.

As long as Raul starts, Traore doesn't and if we play two in the middle they are mobile enough then we should be fine.

I think Ruddy will start, no bad thing as Patricio is getting more lax, indecisive and error stewn and his kicking is shocking, so despite Ruddy's howler v Shrewsbury, I am happy with him in goal for this one. The rest of the team should be the one that started on Monday night and which won well at Everton. This will be hellish tough but get through it and you start to believe big time that with a kind draw next up, we can go all the way. I gather that there is no replay if it ends up level, extra time and pens sort it out on the day. Fingers crossed we field our strongest side and squeeze through in a tight, hotly competitive game. COYW..!!!

Sorry Mr Bach, I think Patricio is comfortably the superior keeper of the two. But I expect Ruddy to start, even though this will weaken us defensively in my view.

However, to put things in perspective, we had Andy fucking Lonergan between the sticks not two seasons ago, so I suppose we should count our blessings really.

Its the kind of game that those who like a bet will be watching closely.

If when the Wolves team sheet goes in an hour before kick off containing the names of any of Traore, Costa and MGW, plus the exclusion of Raul.

The smart money suddenly rushes to Bristol City.

That'll be the line-up in my estimation.

Should have gone for Butland rather than Patricio. Patricio is a an improvement on Ruddy, but only marginally so.

Interesting choice.

Should Butland be a target for Wolves this summer with Stoke going nowhere?

I really rated Butland, so I am still a little miffed no one picked him up as he was going cheap. We made our choice now, even though it would have been nice to add to the English core of the squad.

No complaints with that starting line up. The other Prem sides have just about come away with the win, expect us to as well.

Now I just need to quickly wolf down the Sunday lunch.

Bossing it. Perhaps look to Vinagre or MGW, sorry Knocker, to be more aggressive as they tire.

Good game to win that. City no mugs and full of confidence. A game in seasons past we would have lost...easily .

Only glimpses of what we can do really. What future does Costa have if he cant feature in a game like this?

First half was like a training game, Bristol strangely without any confidence to press and harry us. Doherty in particular had the freedom to attack as he pleased.

A real shame we didn't kill the match off there and then as you suspected they would eventually have to wake up. Second half we sat too deep. MGW continued his run of poor touches, falling over and failing to achieve anything, Traore in his own world when the team needed him to be constructive.

Just about got over the line. Bristol with a lot of huff and puff 2nd half, but they had no real quality in the final pass. This year's Championship really is rubbish if they can win 9 in a row with so little guile.

Now a big fingers crossed for a home draw against a lower league side. NOT Man City for heaven's sake...

Don't know why he put MGW on up top. Needs to be facing the play in front of him.

Ruddy, the back three, Doherty, Donk and Mountinho excellent. Cav always a goal threat.

I think we were, ultimately, lucky. If they had got that penalty shout and converted, who knows what it would have done for their confidence. I thought their gaffer made a couple of good substitutions at half time. In contrast our subs weren`t that inspiring, MGW needs a season long loan out next season. Traore wasn`t on the park long enough to make an impression to be fair to him. But hey, Woo Hoo, we`re in the quarter finals!!! You need a bit of luck in the Cup. Moutiniho man of the match for me.

Rank second half performance due to Wolves being far to slow in midfield finding themselves outran and out played.
and if your slow you have to remain compact which Wolves also failed to do.

Saiss had a shocker, far to slow, frequently out of position, gave away needless free kicks.

Tactically all over the shop second half.

Lucky boys.

Yep, we were lucky...lucky not to have given away a penalty and lucky that they didn't have shooting boots on when in front of goal.

Luck - that's what most FA Cup winning teams have...a bit of luck. Bring on whoever.
