I've completely bosted the HP Pavilion and the Dell Inspiron 1764 is in need of a repair as the screen hinges have dis-jointed and I have to hold the screen together when opening it or closing it in case they separate once and for all.

So, I will buy another Laptop, I don't want a Tablet, but don't really know what I should go for now in terms of maker, price, Operating System etc. I don't think that I really ought to go the expense of a Sony or a Toshiba as my Laptops need to be fairly robust (see first paragraph) they should be easy to clean (especially the cooling fan) as usually, they're sat in a very dusty environment whereas a wood burning stove heats the house during the winter months. I prefer a Laptop for its portability between locations otherwise, I'd get a desktop.

We don't get much in the way of Bundled packages here so it is really more of which make to go for. I see a lot of ASUS Laptops that don't appear to be that expensive, but I have no idea how reliable they are? I use the Laptop for basically surfing the net, downloading lots of stuff and then linking the Laptop to TV via HDMI cable to view. I haven't yet got around reading the instructions about how to connect the Laptop wireless to the Panasonic smart TV, but no doubt there is an option.

I don't do Gaming except for playing cards, but not on-line and I view a lot of You Tube. An HD screen might be an advantage too.

BTW, I have two fully legal Microsoft Operating Systems; on this Dell, I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and on the bosted HP I have Windows Vista Ultimate - I guess I can buy a OS free Laptop, install the Vista and download an update for that to Window 8.1, but I wonder how much it costs?

So, any suggestions for a new Laptop?

Not sure if these links will help, but Asus might be the way to go for you. Will you source in Bulgaria, or Ebay or similar?

Thanks for that. I will buy here in Bulgaria as a), European plug sockets and b), guarantees easier to deal with in country. Unfortunately, I won't have the same amount of options to shop around for the best price as you can in the UK.

difficult to recommend as don't know what would be considered a decent deal is bulgariaish land.

the MSI laptops are decent spec for the price, depends on what you need it for and how much you want to spend tho

You know the wine holder on the side, the one where you press a button and it pops out. Make sure it can support a full bottle not just the glass....trust me lessons learned...

I bought another DELL with an i7 Intel Processor and Windows 8. Just got to find out how to install the software now as I didn't have the 90 minutes to spare for the shop to load it.

How easy or difficult is it as the Bulgarian was explaining to me that I have to tell the software which Drive to install it on? :?

The problem is, you're dealing with people who are distracted by their body hair. Them Bulgarian clouts, there's bicycle wheels, dead dogs, milk floiats, all manner of things hidden in them bushes. Was it a bloke?

I'm assuming that you'd sunk a fair few real ales by the time you wrote that as I have NO IDEA what you're on about.

its a piece of piss.

all you have to do is force the laptop to boot from the CD/DVD drive and that's pretty much it. from that point follow the on screen prompts.

Was that an attempt at humour of a Lapdog for a Laptop? Or perhaps it is some new cleaning device for dusty keyboards such as mine.

I have 7 fluffy puppies at the moment and I must admit, Andrex have a point.

No problem, just trying to stimulate some posts in a relatively dead forum whilst watching Lille v Everton and awaiting my Black Sea fresh fish supper and anyway, I can't get the software disk up the Lapdog's arse - it keeps running off.

Thirteen at the moment as the Mother of the seven pups decided it was safer to deliver them in my barn than down by the lake. She (Mother) was left by a previous Guard down at the lake and since then, she just roams between the camper bus down at the lake and my place where she gets a proper meal and flea powder as necessary. She is only about Scottie Dog size, but I don't know which and how many male dogs got to her as one of those pups is huge with a much larger head than the others.

Fortunately, I appear to have homes for most of the litter (4 males, 3 females), but it is not ideal as Bulgarian villagers tend to treat their dogs like shit as they do nothing, but give a warning bark and don't produce any food. Most village dogs get tied up with only a drafty box or barrel to protect them from sun, rain and snow and fed stale bread as the good scraps go to the pigs. They're only a few weeks old and we're now trying to introduce them to more solid foods to get them weaned quicker. We've been liquidising leftover chicken with milk and now moving on to cat biscuits with milk.

I've been up a few times during the past few nights between 2 and 4am as there is either a Fox or a Jackal about that the Mother barks at continuously. I can get the reflection of its eyes in the Maglite, but it is too far away in the longer grass for me to be able to make an accurate recognition. It'll have the pups away if it is allowed free access, plus if my main dogs come out of their sleeping areas and attack the Fox/Jackal then I could have a Rabies problem too.

I'll have to get the Mother spayed at first opportunity otherwise I will be fostering puppies every six months or so. :(
