I binge watched this series last night on Netflix. It was utterly brilliant, funny, very sad, poetic, altruistic, naughty, current and poignant to anyone who has ever lost someone.
The characters were brilliantly observed and set, the script was brutally honest and clear. In the space of 30 seconds it had me crying with both laughter and sadness.
Whether you like Mr Gervais or not his writing is sublime, he has taken his skill up a few notches from the brilliant series of Derek that he did.
Top job.

Watched the second series now. I dont think it was as good as the first but it is certainly very very good. The grief in it is still believable and palpable. The characters are beautifully portrayed and chosen, I think it would make a mini series very watchable.
I think Gervaise dropped the C Bomb in the script a bit too much, he went a bit OTT with it, less is more, in the first series he dropped the C Bomb on the ginger schoolkid which was hilarious. Wait until you see Annette Crosbies little piece, I wonder what she thought when she first read her script!!

It still makes you laugh and cry in equal measure and you really hope a certain relationship or two will blossom.
