I split up with mine about a week ago and my reasons for the break-up were that I don't feel the same as I did 5 months ago and I'm not ready to be in a serious relationship - fair enough right?

Obviously not. He said I was being hurtful and he couldn't understand why my world didn't center around him, he even questioned whether or not someone else was involved :x

I have just split up with my missus and have thought all of the above about her. Truth is she has moved out for simliar reasons to those you have mentioned, problem is thst doesn't make it any easier.

The hardest thing I am coming to terms with is that a break-up involves pain on both sides. You can't break up with someone without hurting them, there is no such thing as fair enough. He is hurt and he needed to direct that somewhere, you were the most obvious target.

He didn't mean it mate, it's just what he needed to say at the time, as his way of dealing with it. Believe me I know.

Yeah, I can understand all of that and I know there's no way of getting out without someone getting hurt, but bloody hell some people know how to make you feel like the worst person in the world sometimes. I hardly spoke about it all week because I was convinced people would take his side but once I actually started to speak about things I started to feel better.

Its the easiest thing in the world Cally to project our hurt onto others.......

But its a learning curve, and he'll grow from the experience.....

That was depressing to be honest, the only good news is that Cally is single again and Graham will be over the Moon. He's too old for you Cal, you're better off with a yonger guy like me......

Joking apart, listen to the Nutty, she actually does know what she is on about. I think that we should decide to call Nutty, Nutty when it is all in jest and Carol when we really are serious about something. Or, maybe I'm wrong again.

Bloody Hell, Cally. I thought you were sensible. You hate "men" because you chose to go out with a pratt. You're at the bottom of a serious learning curve, I reckon.

Ask your Dad for his advise.

Ah, that's OK. I see that you're a few rungs up the ladder after all. You now realise that he's a "twat", as you say, but hadn't done so before - that's perfectly permissable...we all make mistakes but recognising that it's us who made the mistake in the first place instead of blaming others is the most important thing. This isn't a piss-take, you can call him a "twat" with confidence, given your initial comments. I'd call him a prat but a "twat" will do.

I recently worked with a young woman who was forever having having "man" problems. She was always blaming "men" for her problems but just didn't realise that it was her own fault for choosing bonehead "hunks" to go out with in the first place. Whatever did she expect was going to happen?

Another young woman was so desperate to go out with any man that she just went out with any man. No wonder she had problems.

Your Mum might give you good advice about this area of thought.

Hang on, I may have called him a twat and had a little bit of a rant but where exactly did I say I was placing the blame on him? Ok, I said I hate men, that was just a throw away comment, it didn't even mean anything unless you read into it too much! Like I said, he reacted badly to the break-up, that isn't my fault, it's the way he chose to be so I don't see why I should be shot down for that. He's a nice enough guy and this is the only time he's ever hurt my feelings, but within time things will settle down and we'll hopefully stay friends and he'll move on.

I don't regard the last 5 months of my life a "mistake" either and there is no way I myself made a "mistake" in going out with him because I DIDN'T KNOW HE WOULD REACT IN THAT WAY. That's not my problem is it?

Come on Cally, I am sure if you had persevered, both you and Hardcore could have shared a rosey future.

You said, "I hate men sometimes" and that's supposed to be a "throw away" remark?

Mmmmm.................I'm saying nothing else....I've said all I can to be helpful.

Ask your Mum and Dad, Cally.

P.S.

How do you rate the level of your gender awareness?
