Went to the quacks friday because my throat had swelled up and I couldn't swollow anything. My throat hurt so bad. Anyway the doctor prescribed me some antibiotics penecillin xk or somet. The question im asking is since taking them my stomach has been killing and I can't eat. Is there anything I can do to make my stomach feel better or should I stop taking them. Anyone got any experience with antibiotics. I am meant to take them for the next 7 days but im on holiday in 8 days. I can't live like this. Stomach is killing.

Can I have a goo on the missus if you die shorey?

Any road up mate, are you allergic to penicillin? The doctor should have asked you that.If your bally is wuss than your throat, stop tekkin the antibiotics, your throat wont kill ya, but a strong allergy or anaphylactic shock will.

Leave my wife alone lol.

Since taking the tablets my throat has nearly cleared up. I am not allergic to penecillin. This morning I have had a pro biotic yoghurt which seems to have helped my stomach but I still feel a bit cramped up. My doctor said that I needed to take the antibiotics for the next ten days other wise the infection could come back worse. I'm just going to go back tomoz and tell him the tablets are causing stomach cramps. Hopefully then he will give me some that aren't as strong.

Read the label in the box of pills or, look it up on the Internet for the contradictions, (not sure if that is the right word or not). As far as I recall, some if not most antibiotics can upset your stomach, mine usually cause diarrhoea or, perhaps that is because I continue to drink alcohol with them which isn't recommended either.

It ain't about the strength of the tablets its about which ones suit your stomach really. In addition to the antibiotics try drinking Camomile with Honey (Twinings do a nice one) add another spoon of good quality honey and let it infuse for 5 minutes before drinking. Drink as much juice of your choice as you can, but not too cold and buy some over the counter lozenges to suck on.

I had a raw throat for over a month as at first the Doctor diagnosed a virus which antibiotics don't treat and then said it was an infection which they do. It was bad enough to stop me smoking for a while so it had to be bad. You might try some gargle as well, but I ain't in to gargling salt water or whatever.
