5 wickets down for South Africa, at 5, in the first innings, means for me, the test is safe.

Still 142 runs behind.
England's day, test and series.

With rain due later, and after yesterday, I was thinking whether Hales, deserves another chance?

Jennings's gets to lunch, somehow?
So he'll be gone straight after his pork pie

Our former full back, Stephen Ward has found a new career as South Africa's third seamer. 8)

I wonder how much not travelling to Bangladesh cost him in terms of the Test team? Should Jason Roy be ahead of him now?

I've liked the look of Westley. I'd give him more a go. I'd love to see Joe Clarke given a go at 5. Bairstow looks far better at 7 than 5 (although it does scupper Moeen slightly)

tomb, I'd try anything.

Cook has had 11 partners since Strauss
Jennings averages under 16.

Watch Mo show them how to bat

The first England player since Flintoff in the 2005 Ashes to score 200 runs and take 20 wickets in a series

(although Moeen was as bad as anyone opening for England)

And Mo, did it in 4 tests.
The rain stopped him getting a ton.
He is a gem of a player.

I can't believe that there are still people out there who don't think he's worth his place in the team. I was talking with my friend the other day, ranking the England players in terms of importance.

I went with:

1. Root
2. Cook
3. Anderson
4. Broad
5. Moeen
6. Stokes
7. Bairstow
8. Woakes

Everyone else is pretty much interchangeable at the moment. Maybe Westley at 9

Great point. Only the 6th player in history to do so

I realise that I am jinxing him here, but if Moeen scores 6 runs and takes a 5fer, he becomes the first person in history to take 25 wickets and score 250 runs in a 4 match series

I think that's difficult - he averages 34 with the bat and 38 with the ball. Needs to get those the other way around

I had a look for some more Moeen stats earlier (apologies for the format, they're copied from my Twitter account)

- @MoeenAli becomes the first player in history to score 250 runs and take 25 wickets in a 4-Test series
- And @MoeenAli moves above Alastair Cook, receiving his 5th MOTM in just his 41st Test. Now one behind @Swannyg66, @root66 and @KP24
- That is @MoeenAli's first player of the series award. Previously, only @RossLTaylor had won more MOTMs and never won the series award
And @MoeenAli's batting average of 35 is the 8th highest of all players to have taken 120 Test wickets

Congratulations to Moeen. Such a likeable guy who deserves success.

I felt that Bayliss' comments also suggested that Jennings wouldn't be in the team for the Windies. He talked about "if he has to go back to county cricket and sort things out it doesn't mean he won't be going to Australia"

Woakes, Hameed, and Hales in the runs.

Hales scored mega-runs today - could he come in at 5?

Hameed was obviously taking great care over his wicket:

That's a great partnership split

Stoneman in the squad, Cook's 12th partner
Woakes back...

A complete waste of Dawson's time including him in the last series, awful man-management, of the lad.

Am sure Stoneman will score loads against this West Indies attack. Not sure how much that prepares you for Starc et al. at the Gabba...

40 years ago today Boycott scored his hundredth, hundred.
And he is still worth listening to, on TMS, today
