England's bowling ranks really are poor right now. Any sort of flat wicket and we have no chance. I shudder to think how bad this team will be in a few years once Anderson and Broad retire. There's a few decent young bowlers playing but none that stand out as potential world class.

Woakes and Overton batting.

Now if I'm the Aussie coach I don't mind either scoring a fifty, it just might keep them in the England side for the third test.

Keep bowlers in the opposition side who are no threat with the ball in hand.

This could be true...but England lack mental strength, fair play to Overton and Woakes, at least they have some balls

Something that Shane Warne always stressed International cricket is all about attitude.

Sport is about being strong mentally, and having the right attitude, fucking apply yourselves England to the task..you may still lose, but you'll reduce the odds

And now that it is too late, England are making a fist of things in the Aussie second innings. But again, too little, too late. 227 is a shocking innings total, 300 is modest these days and you look towards a minimum of 350 and 400 is nowadays the new bench mark for a decent team knock.

The only way I can see England starting to produce a consistent line of fast bowlers is through huge financial incentive.

The shelf life is short and the pain can last a life time.

Incentive.

Lets see if Stoneman can bat for three or four hours.

This technology predicting the movement of the ball looks way out of kilter, needs recalibration.

Root needs to change the batting order, to try and avoid two left handers being in..thus helping Lyon

A weird ending to this game, one I thought that Australia would not lose after amassing 442 in their first innings. Now, any result is possible, still think their bowlers will get us out, we will have the usual collapse and lose four wickets in quick succession but, just but........if Root makes a ton and Moeen and Bairstow get fifties..we can win against the odds. A thrilling last days play that will not last longer than tea interval.

It's a chance, but a slim one. I won't be putting my house on it happening.

Just 50 less runs would have made such a big difference
But I'm a fool, and I believe we will do it

Fell away yet again, no backbone or guts at all, wimpish defeat after getting back into it. The 5-0 whitewash sadly now inevitable.

One thing that has got worse so far in this series is the sledging, The Aussies are at it non stop to every player at the crease and there is no let up. It is about time we entered that war of words and got into their heads and got them upset.

Son of a convict, how's that feel you kangaroo shagger..??

What were your parents thinking when they bore you for God's sake..??

You were lucky to have had your parents only pay £10 to get over here..

Smith: Son of a newsagent.................Lyons......son of a tea shop owner.....Warner......descended to a UK policeman...Starc...they could not spell your name properly you stinking dingo.....

The one I find that works well, is when you explain to one of them that bicycle clips are in fact adapted from an Australian Army invention from WW2. They were first designed so that the Aussie soldier could run away faster through the jungle when faced with a Jap in Malaya.

Get's em every time.
