Just looking at the England batting each one of them seems to score half of what required.

Some fun had watching the tail wag, but England now face a long day beneath the simmering Sydney sunshine. 450+ for the Aussies.

If they can escape another defeat they will have done well, outclassed.

I wonder if England will eventually open up a pathway for working class boys to get real opportunities.

Third and fourth generation West Indian origin kids are given every chance in football but little chance into this class riddled sport.

The game is gone now, it will all be over on the fifth day by lunchtime. We have just not competed at all in four of the five Tests, a sad state of affairs. Despite the loss of Stokes, I expected more fight and determination but it seems that the conditions there are very alien to most of this bunch. I do think, however, that had Stokes been on the tour, Toby Roland-Jones and also Finn been fit, we would have competed far better. All academic now of course, lots to learn for future campaigns over there, we need some of our players to get time playing Sheffield Shield cricket there to experience Aussie conditions and be better able to adapt there in Tests in the future.

In Australia you need fast bowlers who can bowl fast, spinners who can spin and batsmen who can play Test Cricket

Seems to be an alien concept to the selectors and administrators of the ECB.

Edited to add....and coaches who say " If the ball's not going to hit your stumps in a Test match, you can leave it."

I still don't feel this is a great Australian side, but England will not do any good in their country with just fast/medium paced bowlers.

Roll on the summer

Cook becomes the sixth player to reach 12000 test runs, and also the youngest...

And then gone

To retain interest in Test cricket, Ashes cricket there has to be far more investment into State schools sports.
Players and facilities.

93-4, pathetic effort, they just want the series over and to start the ODI's....where is any backbone and guts..??? All over by lunchtime or just after. So feckin predictable, the tour has been totally embarrassing and a shambles.

Breaking news: One hour before the start of the final days play: Joe Root taken to hospital with dehydration. Doubtful if he will be able to continue in the game. Just shows what 47C heat does to people unused to such a climate.

Just when he and Bairstow were about to bat out the day. Seriously though, I hope he is ok.

That is a ridiculously high temperature to be playing sport in, especially all day, might as well go for a jog in the Sahara.

Thank feck that's now all over and done with. maybe, just maybe, we can do well in the ODI's to salvage some pride.

I loved Geoff Boycott's parting interview on BT with Vaughan and Anderson, marvellous viewing.

I love Boycott but found him naive to be asking Anderson such questions, for Anderson to be honest would be like a Turkey voting for Christmas.

The "power" cliques inside the dressing room have been a major part of the problem for years. Australia had the same. There was a time when certain shield sides couldn't get a player into the national set-up no matter how hard they tried. England need to select on merit. Sounds easy. Certainly isn't.

Charged with affray, what a load of bollocks, the only reason he has been charged is because he is a public figure.
I have lost count of the number of Affray's I put to CPS who then decided to no further action them because the violence used was practiced on each other, or that no persons of "Reasonable Firmness" were present there.
I once had three shitbags fighting with each other in Dudley Street on an afternoon causing moms and kids and all sorts to scatter, they were witnessed by Police officers hitting each other with a shovel, arrested, put to CPS, NFA because the violence used was against the other protagonists, load of bollocks.

CPS also tell you very harshly that if an allegation of Assault is made, a broken eye socket fits the bill, then Affray CANNOT be considered over the offence against the person.

Disjointed bollocks again from CPS who are charging celebrity

What would you expect to happen now Rozza? Slap on the wrist or harsher punishment?

Fine plus suspended sentence?

Rozza, what were these yobs doing with a shovel down Dudley Street :?: Had they been doing some digging, and returned from an extended liquid lunch, to have a drunken row?

I am guessing that the person who's eye socket was broken has made no formal complaint and is probably included in the catch-all offence of Affray too.
If all three were involved in the charged Affray then the Crown cannot use their testimony against each other, because they are all Co-Accused which basically means that unless there are independant witnesses The Crown are using the CCTV as evidence in chief which is very dangerous to say the least.

Plus the fact that the CCTV has already gone nationwide one would have to question whether a fair trial could be held?
The maximum punishment is 3 years in chokey, trust me NO ONE gets that for Affray. If proven, which again is optimistic, Stokes is facing a maximum of 12 weeks inside is my estimate. Based on the premise that he has no form so to speak, a period of Community Service and a fine and a curfew is more than the likely outcome if indeed the jury find them guilty and indeed if it ever gets that far.

No mate, they live in tents on the ring road and parks like a Wolves rip off of the Wombles, except they create rubbish rather than picking it up.
