Is this finally our year.
Today, was the first game, and Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer lit up The Oval to ensure England defeated South Africa, by 104 runs, to get their World Cup campaign off to a winning start.
Do they have what it takes to win the world cup?

We probably have the best team we have ever had for a world cup. What worries me most though is that most of the pundits think we will win it. Always a killer.
Some good players though, let's hope they don't have one of their occasional collapses when it really matters.

Great win for the South Africans !! ( if you include all the runs the could have got and the wickets they should have taken ).

I still think when it comes to the crunch and its high pressure the game winner between the Aussies and England could be Steve Smith.

Two words: Ben. Stokes.
Not as comfortable as I would've liked yesterday, but job done.

B-tting or B-tting ?

Fate, and talent suggest both Warned and Smith, will have a big part to play in this competition.

Well it was inevitable today. Pakistan lost 11 in a row and were thrashed by WI a few days ago. England beat them 4-0 in May and are considered big favourites - all ripe for a Pakistan win. That's one life gone . Lose an other one and then a couple of weather draws and we could be struggling to make the semis.

We were awful in the field, and the bowling lacked any imagination. A performance full of errors.. Hopefully a wake up call

I feared the worst today, but only because of the weather England made 386, taking the pressure off the bowlers. Woakes looked a little lost today?
Maybe we should always bat first, when given the opportunity?

Great win today. Dovetailing kicking in. One has an off day, one steps up. The only way to win. It's not a sprint, every team will have an off day. Hopefully we've had ours.

Good game today, possible 650/700 runs scored...but who wins?

Today was the marquee game of this World Cup - a sell-out crowd, one billion TV viewers and more than 800,000 ticket requests, India won easily, but it ended with Pakistan knocking the ball around in front of a half-empty stadium.

Big innings from England with Morgan outstanding and nice to see a good little cameo from Moeen who is a better batsman than he had been showing recently.

Oh Mo. I love him but what a terrible decision to try for that 2nd 6 after he had just got away with one and the score was manageable at the time. We need to beat a couple of the big boys now to get through.

Talk about taking your eye of the ball. Arrogance and complacency rightly punished.

Even when it was apparent that Sri Lanka had struggled because of a slow pitch everyone said it would be easy for England -I guess the players thought the same. Even the people who operate the win predictor had got England at 91% to win when they were three down and struggling to make inroads how complacent can they get?

With the cup "set" up for England to qualify before facing the big 3...England now have to win all 3 to qualify, with maybe the possibility of only needing to win 2 to reach the semi finals.
England are good enough, but not smart enough, and its been a long time since we have beaten any of the remaining 3 at a world cup.

England believe the media hype but they're not that good at all and have always lacked a steely, mental strength that other teams have. They will not make the semi finals and deservedly so. Bottlers.
