You will also note these historical allegations were brought to the attention of senior Labour figures who did nothing. It is only now as they rush to take the high ground that they suddenly recognise the complaints.

Hypocrisy at it's most vile.

The sad part is English blokes in power have been getting away with treating vulnerable people as Plebs for many a year and never thought they would get their comeuppance.

Times change, thank God. How high can we take it because the biggest abusers throughout history have been the aristocracy.

With claims yesterday that the 57 Brexit impact assessments now mysteriously don’t exist, Ministers turns farce into a new art form..
What a bunch of shysters.

I feel sorry for Patel. Israel has jumped into bed with Saudi. The enemy of my enemy etc etc.

NO coincidence the Israeli PM in London shortly after her visits. London didn't know she was going ? Bollocks.

Sorry for Patel, comical.

On 24 August - the same day as Ms Patel spoke to Mr Netanyahu - Middle East minister Alistair Burt and David Quarrey, the British Ambassador to Israel, met Michael Oren, Deputy Minister at the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office. According to the notes of the meeting, Mr Oren referred to Ms Patel having had a successful meeting with Mr Netanyahu earlier.

You have made my point......Thanks

Do you think she just rang up Thomas Cook for her tickets ? Do you think she went into talks with some of the smartest politically devious cookies in the world without civil service prepared briefing/position papers ?

Do you think a Cabinet Minister can just pop off on a jolly to Israel without alarm bells going off all over London ?

She is about to fall on the sword of Realpolitik. It is an added bonus for May that she can get rid of a talented rival.

I think thats surprised me more than most of your posts that you think Patel talented, really surprised with that.

What pisses me off with Tories in government is they waste their better back bench talent. Hardly ever promote them.

There's a bloke who's perfect for her job, in fact he would be perfect for Boris Johnson's job, another bloke who gets where he does because of his schooling and background.

Rory Stewart.

An historian, a very clever bloke and orator who understands the Middle east region more than mostly everyone in UK Parliament.
Now he's clever on another level to Patel and Johnson, he could restore a little faith in overseas British diplomacy given the opportunity.

Good point. Talented in that she would have been able to take a run at May. In the real world ? Slightly better than Dianne Abbott.

The new star on the block appears to be our own ( well nearly) MP for South Staffs, the new Defence honcho. Interesting to see how he goes.

Yeah he may be a rising star but I think there were more appropriate candidates for the positon he has been given ...also he appeared to be a v good chief whip...and that skill will be sorely missed over the next few months.
So all in all I dont believe that was an inspired choice by May.

So Priti gets replaced by a Penny, a couple of three out of ten operators.

They do like to spend a penny or two though.

Priti on her last African jaunt just cut short cost the tax payer another 9,000 pounds.

Penny not to be outdone I'm sure will hit the top ten of MPs expenses claimers next year.

She managed to hit 180 grand last year as a back bencher.

Money in a Tories hands is like Confetti.

Israeli infiltration of our government and institutions is a serious issue. Where is MI5, the police etc. in combating this?

Can't blame Israel for looking out for it's own interests. I'm sure the UK services do plenty similar in other countries.

But if Muslim countries, or Muslim leaning lobby groups in this country did 1/10th of the stuff the Jewish lobby did, I can imagine the shitstorm that it would generate in the media.

Hell, when Saudi Arabia fund a mosque over here it causes front page news.

What a nasty piece of work Michael Gove is, Zaghari-Ratcliffe's plight is well known then Gove suggests he doesn't know that she was on holiday in Iran to see relatives.

Compounding Boris Johnson's incompetence.

No he wasn't. He has hijacked by a reporter and asked a question for which he did not know the answer.

I know it comes easy to your lot, but did you think he should have lied ?

Marr: "What was (Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe) doing when she went to Iran?"

Gove: "I don't know.”

Presumably then he didn't know. Does that make him a nasty piece of work? I personally dislike the bloke immensely but I think you have a non story there Knocker.

Exactly. How do you expect The Environment Secretary, to know what the poor lady was doing in Iran ?

He may have been told what the family says she was doing there, but such an answer as " The family says she was on holiday" would simply be used against her in the Iranian Press. If he "Didn't" know. What the hell was wrong with saying that ?

Boris spoke the truth. She was in Iran actively engaged in training journalists to destabilise the Iranian government. The Iranians picked up on this and arrested her for sedition. She is a dual passport holder and thus an Iranian passport holder and as per FCO rules the British government can't help her.

The Remain nutters have suddenly picked up on her to try to force out Boris.

https://biasedbbc.org/blog/2017/11/07/get-boris-again/

We shouldn't be spending taxpayers money sticking our nose in to Iran's business.

On the dawn of the budget this week I was reminded about matters concerning the class divides of the past and just how they have been forgotten by several governments.
We council folk looked at just three things in the budget.

1) How much petrol would go up at 6pm THAT NIGHT.

2) How much would be put on a box of fags.

3) How many pence would a pint be put up.

Market forces have now made the budget irrelevant to the masses nowadays, a Tory master plan perhaps?
You the consumer can get your petrol from whichever supplier is the cheapest regardless of budgetary pressure.
You can get your fags and tobacco fresh from the continent in almost any local pub now. The same pubs that disregard the budget and create their own price structure to entice and retain custom.

I went to Cheltenham racecourse on Friday, I was there in the previous March. In March I bought a pint for £4.50 which pissed me off then, on Friday I bought the same beer for £5.50, a rise of a whole pound or around 25% in real terms in less than 6 months and with no mandate from the government.

No publication, no furore, no consultation or government diktats, no benefit to the exchequers coffers for the common good, 25% rise, take it, or dont drink it, I chose not to drink it, market forces rule innit.

If the working class continue with such simplistic views they will continue to be royally fucked for forever and a day by the elite ruling class.

In the short term unless Corporation tax is raised so that extra money can to given to front line services.
Everyone else below the elites suffers.

Not asking a lot, just European and Scandinavian levels of cover.

In this time of Brexit uncertainty, the "Corporations" will hold globalisation and their ability to move over the heads of any party, including yours, which attempt to tax them to oblivion. We do not live in the seventies anymore. I know no-one has told the Shadow Cabinet yet, I just hope the electorate understand this in the coming years.

knocker, when Newsnight and Panorama are the two most watched programmes on tv you might just get your wish, until then, Corrie and Eastenders rule amongst the hoi polloi.

Three very fictional offerings plus Panorama which once upon a time produced good investigative programmes.

Not now the BBC treads lightly in fear of upsetting the government.

Why doesn't the working class ask real questions about their kids schooling levels, about hospital waiting lists or a rise in violent crime.

Why would a nation ignore the very basics which effect their daily life.
