It's at a high because we tanked our own currency 30% overnight which boosted exports.

That's like chopping off your own foot and proclaiming yourself a genius because your shoe bill just halved.

Why hasn't industry collapsed ? All the remoaners predicted it would by now.....

Because at this stage the companies that matter still have access to the single market and customs union.

I will applaud May though for sacking George Osbourne because he wasted half a decades worth of potential growth.
Now Hammond pretty much follows the model as layed out by Milliband and Balls.

10 years to reach a position they should have reached in 2013, that's the price you pay for Tory incompetence.

The mere whiff of leaving was supposed to have sent us into an unrecoverable tailspin....

Or so we were told.

It sent the currency into a tailspin hence the economy having a short term advantage with exports.

It is not short term if the currency stays at a competitive level.

If the Tories want cheap thats what they will get, a cheap workforce in a gig economy based on low skills and lessor production levels than Europe.

Or you could add far better real apprenticeships and higher skill your kids coming out of school.

Then you create less need for the overseas worker because you produce your own.

Trouble is Tories like to cut state spending so kids dont get skilled to the required level.

When looking for bias in things our own preconceptions come to the fore. I struggle to see this right wing bias at the BBC but it pokes KK in the eye.

It's crazy that we're doing this self harm to the country. But I guess it's only fair that the areas who voted for it are the ones who are going to pay the most for it.

The countries still asleep and trusting these Tories to get a good deal.

Never before has there been such miss placed faith.

Politically illiterate nation number one.

Japanese ambassador in Downing Street unusually candid after PM meet with Nissan, Toyota, Honda etc:
“If there’s no profitability of continuing operations in UK no private company can continue operations...simple as that... this is all high stakes all of us need to keep in mind.”

“Customs union is one method....” for frictionless trade.. “Japanese companies have come to UK by invitation by solicitation [to access Europe] therefore it is expected that they will have free access”

Well I never. Jizza, stabbing the negotions and the countries position on just about everything firmly in the back.

Saying one thing to his core support and another courting Eurocrats just like Kinnock.

I feel sorry for Michel Barnier, Feb 2018 and the UK still hasn't set out what it wants.

The Tories cant offer real negotiations for fear of upsetting one wing of their own party.

Meanwhile the country suffers, as the media tries to conceal their gross ineptitude.

All done from within the confines of the EU.

Germany overtakes China as world's richest exporter.

Germany, AKA The Fourth Reich ( sometimes known as the EU) behind China in every other "Think Tank" bar this obscure one

I wonder if it has anything to do with the mere 20% of their workforce being in a Union and the vast majority of that percentage being in one big overall Union that insists on political NEUTRALITY with at least one board member by their own code, coming from the "Right" wing Democrats.

Their Union looks after it's workers first, not trying to bring marxism to the masses by stealth.

Big difference there Knocker.

I don't feel sorry for Barnier at all, he is just threatening us with all sorts of shit and gives the impression to the UK populace that he is an uncompromising bully. The PM voted to remain, she now has to try and get us out as best as she can, never easy for anybody, no matter if you are Tory or Labour. I can see this getting blocked by the Lords and/or the MP's in the house and reckon that another referendum will be called. The referendum was called far too quickly and without any decisions made on how we would come out ( if that was to happen, which it did) and what the hundreds of potential problems would face us. A right mess for anyone to try and solve.

nobody has any solid information, there just isn't any, we get told things by the Govt and the EU and have to sift through them to see what we might put together. I think that things will stutter along until a month before we are due to leave and then something might get done. But do not rule out the MP's and / or the Lords blocking anything that is put in front of them. This is not over by a long way..

Surely the UK Government having triggered the mechanism to leave the EU are under obligation to tell them the terms they wish to leave by?

Then develop detail on trade arrangements as well as rules and regulations regards working conditions and Immigration as two examples.

I see the Government is to offer ministers giving speeches starting today with Johnson.
So lets hope we start seeing some meat on the bone with real details on key issues.
Then they can get round the table and negotiate with better knowledge of what the UK wants.

No Government would reveal it's hand so soon, I get that but we need to have a few more clarifications of what our main terms / desires are. Let's see what these speeches may bring. The biggest drawback will be the MP's and the Lords when they get their vote on our final withdrawal agreement that the Govt put forward.

Of the two forces involved here, the one will sort itself out. Business and money are like water and will find their own level.

Tis the bloody politics that's killing it. Both the German and UK government's are under pressure. Enemies from within and without using the difficult negociations for their own political gain, bugger the countries and the people.

It's going to get even worse and will only stop when money and business tell the politicians to Foxtrot Oscar
