Aa it has across Europe. I didn't know the Tory Party ruled there?

Oh Knocker, you will have to stop reading that fake news in the Guardian which is out to trash anything Tory as much as it can. The recent report states that the increase in life expectancy has slowed down and almost stalled but there was an overall small increase in life expectancy over the decade not a reduction so Jeremy C er I mean Hunt 's assertion is still valid. Nothing is PROVEN anyway as life expectancy figures are based on forward projections not actuality. Also, it is being suggested that one of the major factors in reducing the increase in life expectancy has been obesity, I don't understand how this fits in with your agenda about austerity and privation and the massive increase in food banks.

The Government has given US health insurance giant Optum a £7m contract to assess NHS patients as high, medium or low risk.

Whats all that about?

It's about using analytics (not sure what's wrong with the old word analysis) to identify the best treatments to apply to patients with chronic illnesses.

These sort of contracts are part of the Blair legacy of course.

Interesting that you missed out the ones below the UK - Canada for instance who are considered to be a universal model for quality health care systems. Whilst our position in the table is not great, health care is far wider than hospital beds, what are the community care systems like in those other countries?

Do the people who inhabit the UK wash their hands enough?

And in other news

Health Sec Matt Hancock has been stopped by No. 10 from going to a European meeting to coordinate Coronovirus response?

No, they certainly don't KK, check out the loos when you exit / walk in, hardly anyone washes their hands these days unlike a couple or three decades ago. On my travels these three or more years since retirement, trains and flights alike, I have noticed people cough and sneeze without putting their hands over their mouths when so doing and carry on doing it for the rest of their journey and if you ask them to be more aware of what they are doing, they tell you to mind your own business or else just F*CK OFF. If such people carry on with their filthy and selfish habits whilst this Corona Virus kicks in more deeply, we will see a massive spread of it rapidly, partly due to these dirty, inconsiderate bastards.

Is it a time thing, do people not have the time to wash after holding their dicks or wiping the arse?

I don't wish to mix with these people.

Jeremy Hunt on Newsnight: “In retrospect I can see the cuts to social care were in a way the most silent but also the most devastating.”

If only he’d been in a position to do something about it...

He said "in retrospect" - he didn't know he had to at the time.

Once more knocker you show that you can prove anything with statistics. You could argue: "Isn't it brilliant that our population is so healthy compared with the sickly Japanese that we need fewer beds"
OR "Isn't it great that our fantastic doctors and nurses are so good that you don;t have to stay in hospital as long as they have to in Japan"....

Oh - and I notice the USA is above us in the table. Is that the same USA who everyone vilifies re healthcare? But I suppose the beds are only for those with insurance - the rest sleep on the floor.

Statistics and their interpretation is a game statisticians and politicians play.
