Seen some shit during my time on this planet am as hard as nails, rippling muscles, tattooed on my chest with a Howling Wolf under a full Moon with a habit of exaggerating, but still somethings make me weep and wrench at my heart strings. Is it a weakness for a man to weep, swallow that big lump of sympathy in one's throat or, should I grow a bigger pair?

I dont know the answer, i suppose we all have moments. Me with family and friends, but most times i'm a cold bastard.
More so pain/enjoyment in the mind rather than the body.
Tough question.

I don't think it's an emotion one can really control... and it's probably best not to suppress the urge to do so. Different things tug the old lacrimal ducts into action in different people... some respond to pain, cruelty, memories, guilt and euphoria. The Secret Millionaire gets me everytime i'm afraid, not sure which category that sits in though.

Coronation streets not real nutty . I havent cried for about 15 years but if something happened to my family I would cry a river. Some men need to man up.

When Scott and Charlene got married in Neighbours I cried buckets... If a man can feel empathy, grief, distress, fear, love, pride...and that spills over into tears then I'm fine with that.

My old man cries every-time I get back on the plane.. Probably out of jubilation... He is a mans man, and yet I caught him bawling at sports personality of the year!! The year review, the Olympics etc.. He kept trying to say what an amazing year it was but he couldn't even get words out. Jessie!
I am starting to feel again, I was convinced I couldn't cry when a member of the family passed when I was 23 and I couldn't raise a single tear...
My misses can just turn it on in a second, she is blarting before the gravity of the situation has even hit me.. Usually I don't feel the pain until the moment has passed, I feel more on reflection than in the moment.
Nothing a pair of sunglasses can't fix I guess.
I think men are in tune with their feelings, but are prone to keep them inside.. But I think real men can say 'fuck what you think' and cry as they wish.

knocker knowles wrote: I feel more on reflection than in the moment. that resonates with me. Does it make a difference whether its subjective or objective? I'm much more 'immediate' in my feelings for others, but probably reflect more when it's something to do with me. Probably something to do with maintaining some control? After all, it is only more recent years that its been considered to be 'ok' to express emotion, and I am a miners daughter, so stiff upper lip and all that.....

She was only a miner's daughter but she knew how to light Davy's lamp. Wonder if that brought him to tears?

I knew a tobacconists daughter once, she liked a rough shag.
This joke died circa 1959.

I can't remember the last time I cried, although my eyes can start to well up when I see or hear something particularly sad. When I hear Time To Say Goodbye by Andrea Bocelli, is such a time. It was played at the funeral of the wife, of one of the lads. She died of cancer, which could have been prevented, and she was only 43, leaving a young daughter the same age as my Joe. I remember them on their wedding day, it was such a happy occasion.

Breast cancer, but they failed to diagnose the problem, until it was too late.
